Assuming that the breaker is not simply kicked, you could have a blown thermal fuse. the thermal fuse is designed to blow in the advent of a overheating and a potential fire. this fuse will most likely be located on the heating element housing. You will have to open up the dryer to gain access to all the parts.

If the door switch or the door-switch actuator is defective, the dryer won't work and you need to replace the failed component. The switch is inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch.

Put new belt on dryer but it wont turn and i can smell burning and the drum wont turn

sounds like the belt may be bound somewhere, I would take it back apart and see if I can turn everything by hand. If everything turns freely then I would reinsert drum, hook belt up and see it I could turn the drum with my hands, it will turn but not to freely. Hope this helped tim

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

check out this electric no heat tip...

Dryer wont turn

If a dryer drum doesn't turn but everything else seems to working properly, a broken drive belt is usually to blame. Changing the belt is not a tough job if you can handle a screwdriver and have a little patience. This site has great detailed instructions for how to do it, as well as offering the belt and other parts at good prices. (No, I do not have any connection with the site; I just find it about the easiest one to follow!)

Get the belt and have at it! You'll save around $100 if you do it yourself, and feel pretty good about yourself too. Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!

Dryer wont turn on

It is probably the thermal fuse/ cutoff. It is a small white plastic piece on near the motor housing.

or

This is usually caused be an airflow problem. Make sure a the dryer vent is blowing properly after replacing the thermal cutoff.

Dryer starts but wont stay on

There is a switch on the motor that activates when the drum is turning at the proper speed. This switch should be checked if the drum is turning properly.

Whirlpool LTE5243D Top Load Stacked Dryer heats sometimes and not others

couple things this could be lets start obvious
faulty door switch even though door latches doesnt mean its working properly
bad guages easy to check dont have to run dryer just guages
turn on setting let run threw cycle if it stops on cycle and dont move for a length of time this will be the problem

these 2 things are main causes of why a machine wont work or partcially works at times everything else is easy
