I believe the manual has a whole section on how to remove it and replace it.

You will probably have to buy a whole driver/return mechanism.

Dewalt 16 guage 18 volt finish nailer will not shoot nails

1) Check to see if the drive belt is intact
2) Check and make sure the driver blade is not bent
3) Make sure return device is properly clipped down so the driver can fully retract
If you don't have success, please let me know more details of what the tool is doing and I will try to talk you through it.

These tools are quite complicated to work on. Here is a parts diagram but I would highly recommend sending or bringing it in to a DeWalt service center for the repairs. This link is to their site where you can also find a listing of service centers near you.

The pin on my Dewalt dc616 cordless finish nail gun is ceasing up. How can i lubricate it? can i spray silicon into the nose of the gun?

Hello, W/D here.

The better way is to disconnect the air line from the gun, and place several drops of light oil in the gun while holding the trigger down. Oil daily. Then, re-connect the hose, and fire a few nails into scrap wood.
Another trick is to spray your nails with WD-40 before you load them into the gun.
Best regards, --W/D--

My DC616 a straight 16 gauge DeWalt finish nailer tries to drive 2 nails when it fires 1 out of about every 5 to 10 shots. I am a finish contractor and have used this nailer for about 6 years. I was...

Argh...

Had the same problem, but only after about 4-5 nails. Once it jammed 4 times in a row - very frustrating.

I read the manual, took the unit apart, checked the driver - it was straight. I took a file and filed the back end of the driver down a bit so it would miss the second nail and so far it seems to be working famously.

Great unit...

My dc 616 wont fire. the lights are on solid when first put battery in then when you depress nose to fire, it clicks and the lights flash constantly thereafter

The driver is probably stuck. The manual tells you how to access the front of the device. Check there (I have also had several hard to find jams) - be sure to remove all nails first.

The driver is silver in color, so it's easy to see if it's jammed. Use a slotted screwdriver to push it back up. I have had this happen more than a few times.
