My norton antivirus does not work properly

Powersuite is a good program to clean up these useless files. For a Free program than works well, try Glay Utilities at Glarysoft . com.

Check if there are any other anti-virus software install on your computer like AVG, Mcafee etc .. uninstall them and then run the update.

Norton Anti-Virus 2008 was made to not be uninstalled. It had integrated itself into your system files preventing Windows Installer from removing the anti-virus machine. Symantec has made this tool available to remove the product. However believe me when I say traces of Norton will remain until the hard-drive is reformatted.

Once you remove Norton, I highly recommend you stop using Symantec products and check out ESET's product line of Anti-Virus and online-security tools.

Yes get a better antivirus program for one thing. Norton Antivirus is very corrupt and definitely not worth the price. I promise you this is true. I suggest you go to http://free.grisoft.com/ . This antivirus program is free and is recommended by some of the best network engineers around. This program is a lot better because it does not install hidden file in your PC. These files are there so you'll think Norton is really working well. If you should go this route you should remove the Norton program and all it's traces.
