Phone answering machines have really evolved over the past decade. Although cell phones are fashionable these days, there are still houses and offices that are still needed to answer. You can even just use an answering machine, and can make their lives easier.

Telephone answering machines are very popular, but anyone can buy these items, are what they really need and how it can serve its purpose.

There are different types and styles available. You should consider the capabilities of the machine to store a number of calls and its length. The total recording time using the answering machine is usually only 15 minutes.

Some machines can be set to ring a number of times that no messages. At this rate, we can save to pay a toll just to check messages if they are away from home. There are many other features that can be appreciated by an answering machine. For example, one can simply pick up the phone to answer a call while at the same time, the device will automatically shut down.

I want to connect my fax from my cannon mx340 and dont have a instuction manuel can some help me?

Plug in the RJ-11 cable at the phone jack and the MX340. Press the Fax button and then the Menu button to get the Fax Settings menu. Press the left/right arrows to highlight Fax Receive Mode. Then press OK. Select Telephone Priority Mode (you will always pick up the handset and then put it down if the call is a fax. If an answering machine is connected the Fax will be automatically answered), Fax Priority Mode (the fax will be automatically received. If you hear the machine's ringtone, pick up the handset and press Stop to answer the call.), Fax only or DRPD (distinctive ring - available extra from your telephone company). Press OK to save the setting. If you choose DRPD, you will need to teach the distinctive ring by calling the MX340 after setting the machine to listen to the ring. (See the manual.) To fax out, press Fax, put your item to fax face up in the ADF and then dial the fax number of your receipient.

Canon has the manuals for the Pixma MX340 available here: http://usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/printers_multifunction/office_all_in_one_inkjet_printers/pixma_mx340?selectedName=BrochuresAndManuals#BrochuresAndManuals .

I hope this helps.

My Lexmark X5650 (Model number: 4437-001) will not auto answer faxes. It can be manually be answered, and the settings are for auto answer. I can also send faxes too with no hassle at all.

bbargains,

Here is the correct procedure to receive a fax automatically;

Make sure the printer is on and is connected to a working phone line.

Make sure that Auto Answer is on.

To check if Auto Answer is on:

From the printer control panel press the wrench sign.

Press the arrow buttons until Fax Setup appears, .

Press the arrow buttons until Ringing and Answering appears, and then press

OK to save the setting.

Press OK again.

Check to see if Auto Answer is set to On.

If Auto Answer is not set to on, press the arrow buttons until On appears, and then

press to save the setting.

Set the number of times the telephone rings before the printer automatically

receives faxes:

Press the arrow buttons until Pick-up On appears, and then press OK .

Press the arrow buttons until the setting that you want appears, and then press to

save the setting.

When the number of rings you set is detected, the printer automatically receives

the incoming fax.

This should solve your problem.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating.

Our electricity went out on thursday with a storm for about 10 hours, when the power came back the answering machine plays the greeting for the calls and beeps but doesn't let you leave a message it says...

Did you have a 'Thunder Storm'?....

If so you equipment could be rendered useless.... Lightening travels through Telephone Lines on occaision... seeking ground through your power supply... We have had complete telephone systems taken out by lightening.

Machine not answering. new battery. lights on with 0 messages.

When the power went out it may have set the machine to its default setting, "answer function off". Press the "On/Off" button to check for sure. A battery really wouldn't help in this matter because it's only there for backup; when the power goes out the batter will save your settings, outgoing and incoming messages. Perhaps when the power went out you lost your outgoing message, and now, when people call, they don't realize that that they are supposed to leave a message. One more thing you can check is the switch on the side of the phone which tells the machine to answer after 2 or 4 rings.
