Question about Ovens
Error F5 E1 means that the oven is sensing that the door is not securely closed. This issue may occur during or after self clean cycle. During the typical self cleaning cycle of an oven, the interior temperature can reach well above 700 degrees, all self clean ovens are equipped with a locking mechanism that will remain locked until the oven has returned to a low enough temperature for the door to be safely opened. Press "Off/Cancel" to clear the display, engage the door latch and try to turn on the self-clean cycle. If it works, it was just a momentary short. If the error code reappears, the problem could be either the door hinge assembly or the door latch. Open the oven door as far as it will go, and close it slowly and smoothly. Try to wiggle the door side to side by tugging on the handle. If it does not move, the latch is the problem. If it does move, tighten the screws on the hinges located at the bottom of the door until they are secure.
Close the oven door and engage the door latch. Press "Off/Cancel" to clear the error code, then try to start the self-clean cycle. Restart the range and try again. If the code reappears, the door latch assembly must be replaced.
You can check the door assembly yourself, Unplug the oven and turn off the gas valve. Open the oven door and locate the screws that hold the control panel and cooktop in place. Remove these screws and lift the cooktop. Check the lock mechanism for wiring connecions. Try and remove the entire cooktop, it slides directly toward the front and lifts out or it tilts up and lifts out. Set it aside. Replace the latch assembly. Tighten screws securely, and test the latch before you replace the cooktop.
Place the cooktop back into position. Make sure the back portion is secure. Replace the front screws. Plug the oven back in, turn on the gas, engage the new latch, and try to run a self-clean cycle.
Your Whirlpool gas range comes with a one-year full warranty, so if your range is relatively new, contact a service center to avoid accidentally voiding your warranty. Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more information.
