Kenmore 700 dryer with a three prong cord is being converted to four prong. Is there a drawing of what wires by color going to the proper screw location?

There's a ground strap wire (green/yellow) attached to the dryer cabinet and connected to the center terminal where the white neutral wire of the power cord is connected. Disconnect this ground strap wire and remove the 3-prong power cord from the terminal block taking note where the wires are connecedt to. Connect the 4-prong power cord in the same way same wire colors of the 3-prong cord are connected to the terminal block. Connect the ground strap wire to the remaining fourth wire (green/yellow). Just do the reverse when converting 4-prong to 3-prong. The link below might enlighten you further on this matter.

My dryer's power cord has 4 prongs, my wall socket has 3 holes, can I change the power cord, or is there an adapter to change from 4 to 3 pronges.

Un screw the 2 hex screws from the back of the dryer where the cord goes in.

There will be 3 screws that connect the cord to the dryer, loosen or remove them to remove the 4 prong cord.

A hardware store will carry the 3 prong cord you need, tell them it is for a dryer.

Re-connect the 3 prong cord to the dryer.

Plug in and test after you have installed the new cord.

I have a kenmore 90 plus series , which was given to me. So I know nothing about this dryer. It had a 3 prong cord on it , so I put a 4 prong cord on it, so it would work on my outlet. It starts and runs...

You have conncted the 4 prong power cord incorrectly. It says right in the inatallation manual that incorrect installation of the 4 pronged power cord an result in fire. Follow this link and see pages 5 - 7 for proper terminal connections http://www.hammerwall.com/Manuals/Kenmore/Description/8576656/Kenmore%2027%20Inch%20Electric%20Clothes%20Dryer%20Install%20Instructiions/L0708285/

You will have to enter a script box of charaters and leters to download the manual. Click on the picture that appears in spanish and download the manual. Rt click the manual link when it comes up and save it to your hard drive then choose open and go to page 5, 6 and 7 for the proper terminal connections. (it has pictures) :) Note it is a pdf file. If you still have the problem after verifying the terminal connections then check the unit for lint blockage in the lint filter area ducting and outside flapper vent.

Can you tell me how to hookup the three wires of 3 prong cord to the back of dryer that came with 4 wires(4 prong)? Which one goes where? I only have 3 prong plugs at my house. Thank you.

The following link explains how to connect a power cord to your appliance:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r793520-3_prong_4_prong_power_cord_conversion

Now keep in mind, some newer appliances REQUIRE a 4-prong plug in order to work properly. You may consider having a four-prong outlet installed to accomodate your dryer.

You can try these steps by referring to to section that discusses converting from a 4-prong to a 3-prong power cord.

If you have questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.
