I hit the chain-link fence, and the thing quit. But, there is still power going to it - i can hear and feel it it wanting to go. Took apart the two-piece cover, but could not see anything obvious.

SOURCE: Black and Decker 16 in Hedge Trimmer

I use a dremel with a sharpening stone, if u don't have one you can also use a power drill with a small sanding disk (1 inch) and course sand paper (30 or 40 grit). or you can use a bastard file. its too tight to use any kind of angle guide so just take your time and do it by eye. it shouldn't take much to get them sharp enough to do the job, over-sharpening is unnecessary and dangerous, and will make the blades dull faster. sharpen all the free blades, top and bottom, then start the trimmers to advance the blades to free up the sides you couldn't get. i use a light penetrating oil to clean the blades first, then lithium grease spray to lubricate.

SOURCE: Describe your Black & Decker Hedge Hog

You may have a piece of metal between the moving blade and the stationary one. Also the motor may have been at the top of the stroke when it stopped. You may be able to "force" the blade to move a little. This may free it enough to work.

Did you ever oil the cutters since you have owned it? Try this spray some PB Blaster on the cutters let it soak and then try running it. If you can't find that stuff just try some motor oil, pour it on let it soak and give it a whirl. Good Luck...

Craftsman cordless trimmer jammed

tools that become jammed from turning 1st need to be found out 4 cause of jam , and jam removed then a ck of the electicial motor for any faults inside of it need be looked at , if none found, a relube and reassembly of tool needs to be done

some common causes of tool jamming are : foreign object stuck in a tight fitting spot, lack of lubrication and tool is too dry to move , bent moving item on tool ,an hard jolt has been given to tool and some part of moving assembly has bent and become jammed tight, like dropping tool this would be a hard jolt

Yes it can but you need to find what jammed. I would check for a bent shaft or a wrapped cable. Good luck

I had this problem with mine. I ended up disassembling the two halves of the trimmer, then reseating the cam. The cam was jammed when I caught the blades on a chain link fence. Good luck and patience.
