I hit the chain-link fence, and the thing quit. But, there is still power going to it - i can hear and feel it it wanting to go. Took apart the two-piece cover, but could not see anything obvious.

Broken won't move

Check the teeth for something jamed. Has it set up for many years, maybe rusted bar. Does the motor run? If so maybe a cam gear broken or jam. Does the teeth on the bar move when removed from unit? Or does the motor run when bar removed? To many question to ask need more info.

I have an 8104 type 7 black and decker hedge trimmer. It freezes up durning the cutting or just squeezing the trigger. Makes a loud buzzing noise. Almost like it is jammed and there is nothing jammed in...

Did you ever oil the cutters since you have owned it? Try this spray some PB Blaster on the cutters let it soak and then try running it. If you can't find that stuff just try some motor oil, pour it on let it soak and give it a whirl. Good Luck...

B&D electric Hedge trimmer I was cutting bushes and hit the chain-link fence. Now, the trimmer just hums. Can it be fixed?

Yes it can but you need to find what jammed. I would check for a bent shaft or a wrapped cable. Good luck

Cam does not engage blade

I had this problem with mine. I ended up disassembling the two halves of the trimmer, then reseating the cam. The cam was jammed when I caught the blades on a chain link fence. Good luck and patience.

# Keep all people and animals away from the area you're working in # Hold the hedge trimmer correctly using both hands # Make sure the hedge trimmer's switched off and idle before attempting to remove any jammed cuttings # Wear protective clothing including heavy-duty footwear and safety goggles to protect your eyes from flying cuttings # Electric hedge trimmers: Don't use in wet weather.
