This problem is related to the tension of the threads, try adjusting the upper thread tension to see if it improves.

SOURCE: replace a motor belt for sewing machine

The top tension is dependent not just on the tension dial, but also on the little disks that you go through to thread the machine. If it is not threaded correctly, you will get bunching underneath. Sometimes I just have to rethread the machine-- when you get to the disks- hold the thread taut and push it through the disks before going up to the arm part. Here is a threading picture I found- but it doesn't point out the disks too much. Once the machine is stitching nicely, then the tension dial can be used to flatten out the stitches.

Who uses a Singer 6235? How would you compare it to the Futura II 920? Anyone know the original retail price of either machine?

THE SINGER 6235 ARE BOTH GOOD. I'VE LOOKED AT THE FUTURA AND BELIEVE IT IS NEWER THAN THE 6235. THE FUTURA WILL GIVE MORE CHOICES OF STITCHES. EITHER ONE WILL BE A GOOD PURCHASE. EITHER ONE WILL BE HEAVY SO YOU KNOW THERE IS A LOT OF METAL FOR LONG LIFE. THE ORIGINAL PRICE IS HARD TO FIND OUT. IF YOU WANT TO KNOW TODAYS SELLING PRICE YOU CAN CHECK EBAY FOR A GOOD INDICATOR. THE PRICE AT THE TIME YOU ARE SPEAKING ABOUT MIGHT HAVE BEEN AROUND $200-$400.

How do I replace the drive belt on a Singer Athena 2000?

Generally, the hand wheels have a screw at the center that is covered by a white disk. You use a flat bladed screwdriver to "pop" the disk off, and the screw is underneath. If there is no screw, then it's a "force fit" and you remove it by squeezing the wheel together and "rocking" it off.

Thread keeps bunching on the bottom of the material when I sew. Have a Singer Futura 920

Generally bunching underneath is related to the top tension. Check your tensions - you might have to fiddle around a bit to get it right

I dumped everything off computer and still cant get futura ce100 to open did what singer said several times still won't open and machine is on. Please help running vista.

Make sure your USB cable is plugged into one of the USB ports on the BACK of your computer. The front ports or a USB hub doesn't have enough power to run the USB cable for the machine. Singer doesn't have enough computer knowledge to figure this out-this was finally solved for me by a PC expert at work after I went nuts for a few months! Hope this helps!

You will have to contact Singer customer service.

They have a website where you can look at FAQ and Futuras to see if this has been addressed before sending the question.

Dear Wendy,

The E4, error message means the safety device is activated. Machine is locked up due to thread entangled with the bobbin case. Remove the needle plate and bobbin case. Check for any thread around the hook area. Also check your handwheel. It should turn freely. Good Luck

I have this machine for more than 30 yrs-- when this happens, the top thread is not pulled through the little disks correctly when you go up before getting to the arm. Here is a threading diagram
