If convergence will not line up the two STK-392-570 Convergence Chips this model uses need to be replaced.

This is very common in many sets like yours. The chips are mounted on a large metal heat sink on the middle board and a white grease is applied to the back of each to transfer heat. After several years the grease dries out from the heat and one of them fails.

Total parts cost on EBAY for a pair is under 20 dollars and total parts cost if you do it yourself is under 25 dollars.

I have repaired hundreds of these sets and have composed start to finish, step by step instructions for this repair in your set.

They tell you everything you will need and how to do the repair from start to finish.

If you want the instructions give me a "address" and I will send them to you. Also, if you attempt the repair I will be available to assist you during it.

Let me know what you think with a comment here.

hi, sounds like a convergence issue. try this...
  • Look through your manual. Your manual will always give you the most specific directions for your particular model. Look for an "adjusting convergence" or "set manual convergence" section.

  • Enter the menu on your TV. Use the remote control and bring up the menu.
  • Choose "Convergence." This may be under "Picture Settings," "Function" or "Advanced Options."
  • Select a color. You will have red, green and blue to choose from. Do each one, starting with red.
  • Press "Enter." A crosshair pattern will appear on your screen.
  • Adjust vertically. If there is a horizontal red line visible, press the up or down arrow keys (or channel up or down) to adjust the convergence until the line is superimposed on the horizontal-center line of the white crosshair.
  • Adjust horizontally. If there is a vertical red line visible, press left or right (or volume up or down) to adjust horizontally. Do this until the line is superimposed on the vertical line of the white crosshair.
  • Save settings. It is important to save your settings when you are done, instead of simply exiting the menu.
  • Repeat these steps for all colors.

  • good luck!

Can't aline the vertical red and blue on the left

The Convergence circuit has failed. It is recommended that a professional do the job.
The Convergence IC's need to be replaced.
It will be a STK393-110 or a pair of STK392-570's.
    Hope this helps,

Covergence out of alignment on 1/4 Vertical left side of screen

You need to manually adjust the alignment:
On remote, press Menu to get to the main menu
Then arrow down to "ADVANCED FEATURES"
    Then press "enter"
Then Arrow down to "CONVERGENCE" and press "enter"
    "Red Convergence" should be highlighted
    Press "enter"
You now have Green, Red, and Blue overlapping crosses.
If Red is out of whack, use arrows to align
To toggle to blue (and back to red), press "VIDEO"
    Then align blue cross
Once the crosses look aligned, and nice and white, press "AUDIO"
This will bring up the Advanced Convergence screen
This is a grid of the same overlapping colors
You have control over the Red and Blue
If Green is very out of whack, you'll need a repairman…
While the "target" is flashing, you can move it around the screen with the arrows
Place it over an intersection to adjust, then press "enter"
Now the "target" is steady (not flashing), and you can use the arrows move your color
When it's aligned, press "enter" again
Now "target is flashing, and you can go to the next square.
    You cannot adjust every intersection.
Some areas need to be adjusted via the adjacent intersection
When you're happy with color you're working on,
Press "video" while target is flashing to change to the other color
Repeat the above (blue is much harder to see and adjust for me…)
When you're happy with the entire grid, start hitting "Menu"
Each press brings you back out one menu level, until you are out of them
Once you're used to the process, it should take no more than a minute or two.

    Convergent red does not align

Convergence amp clearly need to be replaced, STK392-570 Sanyo originals. They are two large multi-pin Ic's at locations Ic801 and Ic802. Also check the small 5 amp pico fuses at F9a04 and F9a05 for open and replace them as well if they are.
