There could be a couple of different things wrong. Either the gas valve is bad, or the control board that opens the gas valve is bad. When working on gas lines and valves it is a lot safer for you and your family to call and have a trained repairman.

SOURCE: My Heat-N-Glo fireplace has a
The ignitor may not be getting gas and the flame is not lighting so the ignitor shuts back off....
Bleed the gas line and make sure that you are getting gas to the pilot...
If the flame is lighting and it will not stay lit, then....
The first thing I would do is to take everything apart and vacuum and blow out the pilot burner, and the main burner. Also blow out everything around the burners and manifold with compressed air....
I think that the flame is not burning right and it is triggering the O2 sensor and that is what is shutting the burner back off.
If all of that does not work then you will need to replace the O2 sensor or the thermocouple...

Yes, just a couple of thoughts and questions. When you replaced the batteries, how many batteries did you replace? If it wasn't more than 2, you have 4 more AA Batteries to replace in the receiver (black box that beeps) behind the louvered flip down door. If you did replace those, recheck them to make sure they all facing the proper direction. One battery out of place, will throw the whole system off. In addition, sometimes the Slide Switch on the front of the Receiver (black box) can be a little finicky. It may appear to be in the REMOTE position, when in fact it isn't. Gently moving it one way or the other will allow you to feel it go into place.
It would also be wise to check the two wiring connections, at the receiver box and the control valve terminals to make sure they are tight. The wires to the control valve terminal should be on the TH & TPH terminals. Also, make sure the wires haven't been grounded out due to wear and are touching some metal part of the firebox.
And last, but not least, your Heat-n-Glo fireplace has it's own ON/REMOTE/OFF rocker switch. Has it been moved to the wrong position? If it has, it's overriding the remote control. Depending on who installed this fireplace, the may have just wired the remote to the wrong switch position. So, try using the hand-held remote in all three positions, until you find the right one.
If all else fails, contact Sky Tech Systems, Technical Service Dept 888-672-8929. They are great folks to work with.

SOURCE: my fireplace wont stay lit
Tried to turn on our gas fireplace after a couple of years of not using it and I had to press the on button about 10 times before it finally lit up. Now it takes about 4 tries before it lights but it doesn't stay on til after relighting 3 or 4 times. We have a Napoleon gas fireplace, no blower. Any help is much appreciated,
