Question about Samsung DVD-V2000 DVD Player/VCR

Open Question

I have a Samsung DVD player (DVD-V2000) and am trying to connect to my Vizio M370NV via component video cables. I get a "No Signal" message on my TV screen when I switch the input source to Component video. I checked the cables and they are plugged in correctly. Not sure if my issue is with the DVD player, the TV or the cables.

SOURCE: Cannot play VHS

Combo DVD/VCR players don't output the VHS with Component Video. Most of the time, it won't output over the S-Video either. The high end outputs are ONLY for DVD output. You must run a yellow wire, or use coax cable to get the video. Same goes for the optical digital sound out. It's only for DVD use.

SOURCE: Just got a samsung H1080 DVD player playing black and white only

The component connection should have one red, one green, and one blue connector that will connect to the back of your player and the back of your television. Then there should also be another red and a white connector that should run from the AUDIO L & R OUT of your player to the AUDIO L & R IN beside the Component IN connections on your TV. The yellow cord would normally be running from the VIDEO OUT on the back of your player to one of the VIDEO IN connections of your TV.

How to tune up dvd player

  • Plug the power cable of the Samsung VHS/DVD player into an available power outlet near the television.

Connect a set of RCA audio and video cables to the color-coded outputs on the back of your Samsung VHS/DVD player. The colors of these cables are yellow (video), white (left audio) and red (right audio).

Take the other end of the RCA audio and video cables and connect them to the color-corresponding inputs on your television. When plugging in these cables, look for a label for the input, such as "Video 1" and "Audio 1." This will be important in Step 5.

Turn on the television and the Samsung VHS/DVD player.

Tune your television to the video input channel that you noted in Step 3. If you did not take note, you can also tune through your television's input channels until you find the one displaying the signal from the DVD/VCR player.

Insert a VHS tape or DVD into the Samsung player and press the "Play" button to verify that the unit is functioning properly.

Component Video

Plug the power cable of the Samsung VHS/DVD player into an available power outlet near the television.

Connect a set of component video cables to the color-coded outputs on the back of your Samsung VHS/DVD player. These cables will look similar to composite audio and video cables, but they are instead color-coded as red, blue and green.

Plug the other end of the component video cables into the color-corresponding inputs on your television. Take note of what input number you are plugging the cords into, as it will be useful later.

Connect a set of RCA audio cables to "Audio Out" jacks on your VHS/DVD player, then connect the other ends to your television. These cables are color-coded as red and white and must be plugged into the same input number as the component video cables.

Turn on the television and the Samsung VHS/DVD player.

Tune your television to the component video input channel where you connected the Samsung VHS/DVD player.

Insert a VHS or DVD into the Samsung player and press the "Play" button to verify that the unit is functioning properly.

No Signal on DVD to Samsung 2333HD Monitor/TV

I had the same problem connecting the monitor to my Philips DVD player. After a couple days trying to determine if the monitor or cable was bad, I went to the Philips user manual and found that the Video Output setting had to be specifically changed to YPbPr/Component (which I needed). Apparently the player sends the signal in only one format at a time. Hope this helps.

Component video signal between KLH DVD8350 & Vizio 32" PlasmaHDTV

If the Visio TV has more than one input, don't forget to use its remote to make sure the correct input is selected. It probably wouldn't hurt to put a DVD into the player, confirm its running from the front panel counters) and let it keep running as you troubleshoot. At least then you'll know there is an active video source once you find it. Another thing you can try is to put in a music CD, if the player accepts these too (most do). Then when you get the TV set to the right input, at least you'll hear music, and can then go back to trying a DVD.

I know you're using component video, so remember that unlike HDMI devices, the TV is unable to switch to the correct source automatically. So it may just be that you've never had to switch the TV's input source before. Good luck! :-)

First, try another set of connections, S-Video or Component to make sure you have signal. That narrows your problem range just to the HDMI links,

Next, check for an ouput setup on the DVD to make sure you are feeding the HDMI output.

Then, Check the TV setup to make sure the input is turned on, Sometimes you have to make an input or output active before you can use it. This is a power, circuitry and noise related design issue.

Finally, try another HDMI cable.

"No Signal" when DVD player is hooked up via component video

If you are using the same cables, same input and the cable box works ok. I would look into the settings of the DVD player. Such as is it a progressive playback and is progressive turned on. It is not turned on by default because not all TV's could handle progressive in.
