Question about Yamaha Audio Players & Recorders

Open Question

On a CRX-E300, my CD tray is jammed closed, with CD inside. If I push the open/close button, the tray will pulse slighly but will not actually open. CD spins freely but does not play. Problem source: while moving the unit, the CD tray opened & closed while unit was on its side, with CD inside. I have opened the case and pushed gently on the tray from the rear, but so far nothing works. Thnaks.

SOURCE: CD player problem

Seems like the Timingfor the Tray Open / close has got disturebed. Could be a bad drive gear, or as simple as a loose Drive belt. Get it checked by a professional.

SOURCE: my cd player (model dx-1800)

Hi djhartness

It will have a faulty load belt to the tray assembly. Not hard to replace if this in an Onkyo DX1800. You need to use a belt the same cross section as the one that has failed. If you need any help sourcing the part, just let me know. cheers

SOURCE: Pioneer DV535 Player

That sounds like a problem that needs professional service. The door may have jumped a gear, or there could be a circuit malfunction. At any rate, it's probably cheaper to buy a new DVD player. CD and DVD technology are quite precarious still, and I wouldn't expect more than a couple years service from most DVD players.

SOURCE: jammed tray

Hi there, had a similar problem.
This unit is easy to open. the four screws on the sides and two i think on the back. When it is open you will have access to the discs in the machine. the last disc will probably be jammed between the facia and the caddy and will be impeding the carousel mechanism, once removed you should check the functions starting with eject, and again to cycle, load disc position 1 insert disc and check. this player i think rotated the disc on loading to a set position, would have to open one to check. hopefully the carousel is not out of sync and all is well.

Well if you want to DIY you should open the coves, spay some oil on the mechanics and ensure they are running smoothly, if you spray grease on lens you will damage it, be careful.

My xbox 360 tray wont stay close how do i fix it

Do you mean the CD tray won't stay closed? If so check the simple things first. The button that you push to open and close the tray is actually a lever that pushes a much smaller button below it. Make sure that your eject button is not stuck down for some reason. Check your cd tray and the bay to make sure nothing got inside that is preventing the cd tray from closing all the way. I believe if something gets in the way the tray will automatically re-open. You can also take some compressed air and blow out the cd tray to remove any debris that may be blocking the tray from closing.
If none of the above simple steps work I believe it boils down to 2 things. 1. An object inside the case or tray that is preventing it from closing all the way or... 2. The eject button is stuck down.
If your comfortable with it you can take apart your xbox case and remove your CD/DVD player and ensure the button works properly. You can do a search on this site or youtube for instructions on how to take the case apart if needed. Once the case is apart the CD/DVD player is easily removed. You will then notice that the switch you press on the outside of the Xbox to open and close the CD/DVD tray is actually a lever that presses a much smaller switch directly on the front of the CD/DVD unit. You can then test your eject switch directly by pressing the button directly with a ball point pen or a pin. If the bay does not open and close properly at this point it may be necessary to replace the CD/DVD player and I do not know if it can be replaced or not. Hope this helps.

Disc tray automatically opens when computer is turned on. push it closed and it opens back up. got to hold it closed for it to stay closed.

In 99.9% of the cases where a CD player or reader has problems with the tray, even if it is not a computer CD tray, it's just because the sensors inside the device that tells it if the tray is open, closed or jammed are covered with dirt, dust and/or grime and just can't find the tray's position anymore, so it tells the reader that it is jammed or whatever and has it try to open it up all the time cause it never receives the signal from the sensor telling it that it is now closed and ready to go. So if you are good with electronics, you can take apart the unit yourself and locate and clean all the sensors with either contact cleaner or rubbing alcohol and put it back together again, and it should work fine now. If you do not want to risk damaging the unit, take it to your local technician and ask him to clean the sensors for you.

HP DVD 635 - auto tray open

no ghosts, you either have something jammed up inside of the drive which is keeping the door from closing properly all the way or the door itself is defective.

Either way you would be better off replacing the drive with a new dvd-rw cause the drive would be up to date and the problem with the opening door would go away.

CD tay won't open

If you had any cds inside, you can open the case and see whether there's any cd jammed, with the power switch off! If you didn't have any cds inside, open the case anyway and check if the tray opens or not!!!

Hope it goes well!!

Red and Green lights are together blinking continiously

I had this problem. The cancel button was stucked. Open the toner tray and slighly push the button side top-cover up. It released the cancel button for me (actually I was trying to open the top, but it worked). The cancel button was released and the blinking red-green stopped. Printer now working.

Denon CD door jammed

If you are comfortable taking the cover off, you can try removing the cover and then try to help the tray out the same time you are hitting OPEN/Close.
IF you are not comfortable removing the cover then, you can try to take a credit card (Actually, if you have any of those JUNK credit cards that the CC companies send out as trial offers, those work the best, and who cares if you bend those, they get tossed anyway) and bend an edge at a 90 degree.. (about 1/8" of the edge) so it makes like a small ledge. try to fit it inbetween the top of the door, and then see if you can open it up. Some players have a seperate door, and some trays are attached to the door. You might be able to help it out or unjam the tray this way.
And in the Future, with any other CD/DVD Players, use your remote control or the open and close button to open and close the tray, and NEVER Push on the tray itself. If I had a dollar for every dvd player tray that Ive fixed because of this, I would be buying bill gates dinner. (not really, but you get my point)
Good luck.

Having a problem with my CD Player's drawer

This has to do with a mini switch inside the door mechanism that it pushes once but with the bounce phainomenon in electric pulses it thinks that you pushed the cd door inside manualy and it tries to close the door. Try replacing this mini switch. this will solve your problem.
