Question about HP Pavilion zd7000 zx5000 zv5000 presario 3000,R3000 Series 120W Laptop AC Adapter-360699-001 CD-ROM Drive
The problem is due to overheating of the CPU. When it overheats, it will shuts itself down.
There are several solutions. First, uninstall your anti-virus software. It uses a lot of CPU power that makes it hot, especially Norton's antivirus. Next, open the cover of the fans. There are several screws (you need to open the RAM cover too) on the back. Unscrew the heatsink (which located at the end of the fans). The heatsink is a one piece metal with 4 screws holding it. Clean the dust and dirt. Reinstall heatsink. Bootup your laptop. Download CCleaner from download.com. Download Avira anti-virus. Both are free. Uninstall any software that you don't need and run CCleaner to cleanup the junk.
Your laptop should be OK after you run all these steps.
