Question about Grohe Ladylux Cafe Faucet with PullOut Spray in Stainless Steel 33755KD0

1 Answer

The faucet began to leak just today. After dismantling the faucet, I noticed the mixing valve has a crack in the housing that seats one of the rubber gaskets. Because we live in a fairly new house (2005), I figured there would be no problem in going online and odering the necessary replacement parts. Not. so. Apparently the model has been discontinued, and the model that is the closest match has different internal parts, particularly the mixing valve. If my research is correct, I'm not very happy with Grohe faucets at this time. This is a $400 to $500 item that I shouldn't have to replace in it's entirety. Can you give me some direction on where to go with this?

Hi,

Here are the contact numbers
My experience has been that they will stand behind their product and send replacement parts, but you will have to install them or pay to have them installed...

They also will have the parts for discontinued products also...

Don't be afriad to tel them that you will never recommend or buy any of their products again if they do not make you happy with the products you already have...

Bad advertising by word of mouth is not something they want to happen....

Had one case where a customer recieved a competely new updated version of their product...

Faucet loudly chatters at higher volume restricting the water flow.whats wrong

If this is a single faucet as opposed to a mixed faucet then the issues is the valve seat and seal. If this is a combo or mixed then you can get a kit for it to replace the mixing valve that has all those parts.

My Delta 2578-278 faucet is leaking, when it is completely shut off. What is part is most likely the problem ? Thanks Joe

Check outside water pressure to house. Should be 65 - 75 PSI. If good most likely the cartridge. Older faucet, do both sides to prevent future problems. Blade handles? Make sure you get Hot & Cold stems, they turn the opposite way with blade handles. Some cartridges are universal and can be adjusted to work either way. After removing the stem, check with a flashlight in the valve, delta has rubber seats and springs on many of their models. If so, replacement of the rubber seats may do the trick.

Many of these problems develop from poor maintenance on water heaters and high pressure. Water heaters, regulators, safety valves, supply lines, and emergency shut off valves at fixtures should be checked, cleaned and adjusted on an annual basis. Your local expert plumbing contractor should be able to assist you on that.

Dripping faucet

first step would be to change the rubber washer or o ring.
  1. buy a proprietary washer kit from any DIY store.
  2. Turn water off at isolating valve on teh pipe underneath the sink / bath or at the mains and or hot water tank as appropriate
  3. Remove the top of the faucet (often there is a plastic circle at the top that prises off to reveal a screw - mixer taps may have a grub screw on the side)
  4. Gently using a wrench to loosen the nut unscrew and remove the tap (faucet) barrell (middle bit)
  5. Remove nut that holds washer in place and remove it or, in the case of an O ring - prise it off with a pin or needle.
  6. Reassemble in reverse order - do not over-tighten.
If that doesn't stop the drip then the seat that the rubber washer / O ring seals against may be pitted or grooved. Either buy or hire a 'tap (faucet) seating tool.
  1. Turn off water before opening the faucet
  2. dismantle faucet as above
  3. Find which of the sleeve adapters that comes with the seating tool is teh right one to screw into the top of the faucet body
  4. select the grinding disc that is closest to the size of the seat and screw it onto the end of the seating tool
  5. Screw the tool into place in the top of the faucet body - just finger tight.
  6. Pressing down firmly with even pressure (but not too hard) on the top of the seating tool rotate the handle backwards and three or four complete rotations.
  7. reassemble the faucet but DO NOT close the faucet off
  8. slowly turn the water back on and allow it to flow hard for a few seconds to flush and debris out of the spout
  9. Slowly close the faucet and check for leaks.
  10. If necessary repeat re-seating process

Getting hot water when shower valve is first opened.

If I understand correctly, you have single handled shower faucet.
Normally there is a wait for hot water to arrive at faucet.
But now hot water is already at shower faucet.

Single handled faucets have a mixing area inside valve where hot and cold come together before going into sink.
This mixing valve can have crossover where the hot and cold can pass through to each other even when faucet handle is off. When single handle faucets get old, this can happen.
How it happens:
For example another faucet is turned on inside house, and pressure differential between hot and cold causes hot water at shower handle to pass through mixing area and into cold water line.
So if another faucet has been run, then that lets hot flow to faulty single handled shower faucet.
To confirm this is the problem: turn on other faucet and put ear against shower faucet to listen for moving water.
This condition may also signal there is a water leak.
The problem is not harmful, but will draw cold water into water heater each time, and is energy wasteful.
Replace faucet or have plumber repair problem.

I purchased the Danco 80701 "Repair Kit for Delta, Aquasource, and Glacier Bay Faucets with #70 Ball" so that I can repair a leak in my Delta kitchen faucet. The instructions on the package are...

Sounds like the old style center-control delta type faucet, rubber washers describe older type but still good. The rubber seats have holes in middle, supply water to the cylinder which diverts water to the spout, and has a seal over top of ball allowing stem for handle.

Think they are talking about flex-hose type faucet accessory getting clogged, Maybe: lift the flex-hose faucet housing off the center-control faucet body? Water to it runs directly from center-control faucet and if broken seat gets in narrow line could inhibit spray.

Kitchen faucet spout too has an O-ring under where it connects to the faucet body. Unscrew large nut where meets the faucet body unit (slip-joint pliers), once free of threads, spout should pull straight up, easy or slight tug. I use bent paper clip to remove old one trying to save it in one piece so as to get exact size (that's important) to replace, push on one side then other.

The moen began to leak over time now i cant turn the water for

Call moen and give them your model no. they will send you a new cartridge free of charge. if you can't wait local stores like lowes will have them. Turn off your main water shut off valve and take off handle, then with some pliers take off brass ring, the cartridge will pull out. First notice the notch it rests in and notice where the hot water adjustment disc is. Assemble the new one the same way, put some vasolene on orings and reassemble. hope this helps.

Water leaking during drain and spin

Hi!

You Need to check the following--

The fill hoses : These are located behind the washer and are connected to the water mixing valve and faucets. Pin holes and cracks on the hoses may cause them to leak.

The water valve: The water mixing valve is located behind the washer. The fill hoses connect to the water mixing valve. Inside of the valve is that the water gets directed to the filling spout. Water leaks happens when the valve develop pin holes or cracks. Bad fill hoses or water valve could be the reason why the washer is leaking water.

The Filling spout: Is just a directing part, this part directs the water from the water valve to the tank. Pin holes and cracks is what make this part to leak.

The tank : The major cause for the tank to leak is through holes or cracks that the tank develops because of vibration or metal items hitting the tank during the spin cycle.

The tub seal : The tub seal is made of rubber, it is connected between the transmission post and the center of the tank. Leaks developed when the seal gets worn out and it looses the ability to make a good seal between the transmission and the tank. A crack tank or worn out tub seal could be the reason why the washer is leaking water.

The overflow tube : This tube is use to direct the water away from any electrical parts like the motor in case of an overflow cause by a bad water mixing valve or bad water level switch.

The pump : The pump job is to remove the water from the tank to the drain pipe. This pump has an electric motor and an impeller. When the pump motor is turning, any water that falls in to the impeller, is push out to the drain pipe.

Most leaks are cause by a worn out seal between the front pump housing and the rear one.

The drain hose : The drain hose is made of hard plastic and some times it develops pin holes and cracks leaks. Bad pump or drain hose could be the reason why the washer is leaking water.

Thanks for using FixYa and do rate the solution as Fixya if found helpful.

Water Filter Leaks

Since you weren't very specific where it leaks or when it started (like after a filter change) it could be tough to troubleshoot this leak.

If it is leaking at the faucet connection try tightening up where it screws onto the faucet. Depending on your strength (or lack of) you may need to use pliers to get a tight connection. Don't go crazy tight or it will crack the plastic fitting. If it still leaks remove the unit from the faucet and check the rubber washer inside where it screws onto the faucet. Make sure it's still there and is centered inside the cup and seated properly. Then reattach the unit to the faucet and tighten it well.

If it's leaking from the main body try removing the filter and reinstalling it making sure you have seated the filter properly and screwed on the cover correctly, and all the way. When it is tight the water outlet will be exactly at the bottom of the unit. Sometimes it's tricky getting it tight enough especially with wet hands.

Finally, if the leak is coming from the filter on/off selector this could be tough to fix. I would try firmly pushing and pulling the selector knob in and out several times while in both the on and off positions. This may re-seat the leaking seal. I wouldn't be too hopeful about this fix though. You may need to replace the unit if this part is leaking.
