If the Apple store won't fix it, then you are out of luck- there are no mp3 player repair services per se, because the manufacturers will not sell anybody component parts. It is not cost effective, so the repair svcs don't exist - this is a new player, so you are probably still under warranty - get it replaced.

The headphone jacks cannot be repaired, because an mp3 player works off of a single circuit - opening the iPod to replace the jack would not work, because opening the casing damages other parts (besides the fact that you would have to be an expert solderer). There was one guy who claimed to have fixed a jack on another player, but when I e-mailed him privately, he admitted that his player no longer worked after the "repair."

If you purchased the iPod in the past year, I would give Apple's national 1-800 number a call and find out if your warranty is still good. I work for another electronics manufacturer, and we definitely replace in-warranty mp3 players that are exhibiting the symptoms that you are having.

Ipod touch 8GB backlight failure, any way to fix for free??

Step 1: First, make sure your backlight does not work. Go to Settings, tap Brightness, and drag the slider all the way to the right. If this does not work, then your iPod's backlight has failed.
Step 2: You can either do one of three things:
  1. If your iPod is less than a year old, go to the Apple Store and they will most likely replace it for free as a part of their warranty.
  2. Go to the Apple Store and have them fix it for a fee.
  3. Go to the Apple Store with your iPod and tell them you will give it to them when you buy a new one - they will give you a 10% discount.

My ipods slide wont move to unlock

This happened to me with my old iPod. Your iPod might have fallen hard or hit into something. This most likely means the touch sensor on your iPod is damaged.
You have a few options:
  1. If your iPod is less than a year old, go to the Apple Store, and talk to them - they may give you a free replacement on the spot.
  2. Go to the Apple Store and pay them a fee to fix it - or look for other repair shops that might fix it for cheaper.
  3. Go to the Apple Store, buy a new iPod and give them your old one - you will get a 10% discount on the price.

My ipod went black and now wont power back on or charge?

Your iPod battery is most likely dead.
You can either:
  1. Go to the Apple Store and if your device is less than 1 year old, get it replaced on the spot (its part of their warranty)
  2. Go to the Apple Store and get it fixed for a fee.
  3. Go to the Apple Store and tell them you will give them your old iPod and buy a new one for 10% off.

Cant transfer from computer to ipod

A. You need to have iTunes installed on your computer. It's a free download from Apple. Load your CD's into iTunes or buy songs from the Apple iTunes Music Store. Connect your iPod and synch.

B. More information needed. Do you have songs on your iPod already? If so check the cable and the USB on your computer, try to connect to a different computer
