Question about Sylvania Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

Need help with set up on SMPK8099. When loading software on my computer from the disk I got a warning that further installation will damage my computer which uses XP. I disconnected the player, ejected the disk and started over per the installation instructions. The I got a message that the software is being repaired and it appeared that the files were installed. Have I loaded the software? Also, there is no animation in the bottom right corner indicating charging is taking place when connected to my computer. If I disconnect the player and try to turn it on, nothing happenings. What now?

I got the same thing on my computer when I put the disc in. Really I didnt even need to load it in my computer. I use MP3 rocket pro and load all my songs syncin them with windows media player. I also did not see the battery icon flashing but I left it plugged into the computer and let it charge a while. When you turn the power on ant the top of the mp3 player turn power on and press power button on the keypad on front surface of mp3 player. It is the bottom button at 6 oclock try that and see what happens. Make sure to hold button in for a couple seconds.

Close all windows, go back to your desktop screen.
Turn the computer off.

FOLLOWING Anti-Static Precautions, and computer unplugged from power, open the computer case, and physically install the Sound Card.

Download AND install the audio drivers from Asus for that motherboard, AND Operating System you are using.

How to fix "Operating System Not Found" error when you start your Windows...

When you try to start a Windows XP-Based computer, you may receive an error message that the operating system is not found.
APPLIES TO
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
Microsoft Windows XP Professional

Symptoms
When you start a Windows XP-Based computer, you may receive one of the following error messages.
Error message 1
Operating system not found.
Error message 2
Missing Operating System
When you start your computer to the Recovery Console to recover functionality, you may receive an error message that resembles the following error message:
Setup did not find any hard drives installed on your computer.
CausesThis issue may occur if one or more of the following conditions are true:
The basic input/output system (BIOS) does not detect the hard disk.
The hard disk is damaged.
Sector 0 of the physical hard disk drive has an incorrect or malformed master boot record (MBR).

Note Some third-party programs or disk corruption can damage an MBR.
An incompatible partition is marked as Active.
A partition that contains the MBR is no longer active.
Resolution To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods, depending on your situation.

Contact your hardware manufacturer
Your best bet may be to contact the manufacturer of your computer or your hard disk. The manufacturer may have a utility that you can use to perform a more detailed scan for damaged areas of the disk and help verify the correct BIOS settings. However, be aware that the damage to your hard disk may be serious. Sometimes this means that your only solution is to replace your hard disk.

If a fix or workaround is not available, you can use the "Advanced Troubleshooting" section to try to resolve this issue.

Advanced troubleshooting
This section is intended for advanced computer users. If you are not comfortable with advanced troubleshooting, you might want to ask someone for help or contact support. For information about how to contact Microsoft support, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/
Method 1: Verify the BIOS settings
Verify the computer's BIOS settings to make sure that BIOS lists and recognizes the hard disk. See the computer documentation or contact the hardware manufacturer for information about how to verify the BIOS settings.

After you verify that the computer's BIOS detects the hard disk, restart the computer, and then test to determine whether the issue is resolved. If the issue is not resolved, or if the computer's BIOS cannot detect the hard disk, you may have issues with your hardware. Contact the hardware manufacturer to inquire about how to resolve this issue. You may have to replace the hard disk.

Method 2: Use Recovery Console
Use the fixmbr command in the Windows XP Recovery Console to repair the MBR of the startup partition.

Warning This command can damage your partition table if a virus is present or if a hardware problem exists. If you use this command, you may create inaccessible partitions. We recommend that you run antivirus software before you use this command. We also recommend that you backup your data before you use this command. If the fixmbr command detects an invalid or non-standard partition table signature, the fixmbr command prompts you for permission before rewriting the MBR. The fixmbr command is supported only on x86-based computers.

Software disc is smaller than usual size...is it safe to insert into my imac drive to down load to my computer ? will it eject ? Thanks

Hi Don,
  • Software install disks sometime are sent on mini disks, and should be fine to load in you disk player. Just make sure that it is centered. On most cd players there is a smaller grove in the middle just for minis. Many people don't even notice because minis are not very common in the States.

If this helps resolve your issue, would you please rate the solution. If this does not help please leave a comment giving me more information on the problem and I will try to help you further.

Toshiba Satellite M45 S331 Use to power all the time. When we went to install old hard drive to load Windows Xp.It went to screen to start set, then it shut Down.It will Not Power up,Why?

remove eh hard disk and see if the laptop boots up at least to bios settings ..If it does ..I suggest to reinstall the computer but first go to bios and change the ahci mode for hdd into ide compatible or native ..and save changes..This will eliminate the need for 3rd party drivers and will install proper..
No matter what you have on the disk ..it can not do this right the way ...It need s the operation system in order to work and make damages..and if you wipe it out it will not be there anymore. (in case of a virus) ..
I suggest to use a disk to install and not the old recovery ..
let me know how it works and what it does..and I will further advice in this matter

My pc will not boot up it says windows/system32/ is missing

For that you need recovery disk.
Put that disk in cd/dvd rom.
Then when you power up the computer press F1 or F2 or "del" key to enter in bios.
Then go to boot option then set first boot device as your cd/dvd rom then save settings and exit.
Then it boot with that recovery disk then follow the procedure and choose "R" for recovery console then type in prompt "chkdsk /r"
then press "y
then it fix error on harddisk.
Then resatrt computer then if still same error then again boot computer with disk then choose "r" for repair previous windows then it repairs it.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

I get a Blue Screen on my computer and the following: *** STOP: 0x00000024 ( 0x00190203, 0x82D7F008,0xC0000102, 0x00000000 ) What does this indicate is wrong? Is it memory faults or what? This was a sudden...

If you have the original Windows Install disk, you can boot off of that, choose the Recovery Console option, and once you are in the Recovery Console, run "chkdsk /r c:". The error seems to be a file system problem, so running a chkdsk could help or isolate the issue further.
