This is a "plug and play "device ...and all you have to do is to open it and let it find the network ..and after that will be visible in your network places folder...and a device ..
if you want a more advanced control you should install the software that came with it ...
It may be necessary to change the security and remove the password while connecting ...or ..if you have a mac access set to the router ..add the camera's mac to it ...
It is supposed to find the network and connect to it auto ..once you enable the wireless connection on it ..
Also if you preset the IP range in the router ..you may need to enlarge it so that the camera 's IP to be in that range ..but Im not that sure about that ..cause it is a wireless device and it may have no issue of that kind..Just take a good look at it ..cause it probably has a button you need to enable for instant auto access ...
WPA, not WPS, is a security protocol that protects the communication between 2 wireless devices - in your case the router and the camera. There is no button for it, you must enable and configure it in the menu of the router. The entire procedure can be found at pages 13 - 15

In that case it must be referring to Wireless Protected Setup - a system that would allow the automatic establishment of a connection simultaneously and "securely" in both the router and the camera. It was supposed to be the next step in router technology by simplifying the setup for inexperienced home users but almost noone implemented it and it's efectively abandoned now - sorry, i even forgot that it exists. The routers that support it can be counted on the fingers of your hands. Yours is not one of them. You will have to configure it the old way

I am familiar with WPA
the D-Link camera notes a "WPS" setup; a 3 second press of the WPS button on the camera gives a 60 second window to press the WPS button "if supported". Since this was a d-Link Airplus Xtreme G router, I wondered if supported; else "log onto web interface (for router?) and clink onscreen button to activate WPS.
Can you verify this?
How do I get on the web interface (for router) above?
Thx for the quick response
