I have seen this before. Instead of the water draining out the drain hole it puddles between the freezer and fresh food department. The freezer is fine but the cold air from it cannot get down there and cool that fresh food!. Solution: Thaw out the whole ice box and clear the drain hole of the obstruction and party on.

If it is not connected to the freezer unit - it cannot make ice.. Ice is frozen water - you have connected a separate line that seems to have nothing to do with the fridge unit.

Water collecting in bottom of freezer

Unblock the drain hose. You may have to access it from the back of the unit and it may be frozen up so you may have to fully defrost the freezer

One year old Maytag refrigerator with bottom freezer. We noticed recently that water accumulates and freezes at the bottom of the freezer under the basket. We don't notice it then when there is enough...

The drain to the bottom is plugged. you will need to completely defrost the unit. The way I do this is to take all the frozen food out and either put into a different freezer or pack all the frozen food real tight in a cooler then use a hair dryer (under constant supervision) to melt all the ice in the bottom. use towels to soak up all the water. after all the ice is melted you should be able to see the drain. this is where the melted ice drains when the unit goes into the defrost cycle. I have used some small amount of hot tap water to clear the drain and once in a while you need to actually push something thru the tube(compressed air or flexable wire) to clear out a blockage (paper, small piece of food or chunk of ice).. Be extra carefull not to crack the plastic with anything sharp or by using to much force. Once the tap water goes down into the very bottom (thru the drain tube into the catch pan) then the ice won't form as the defrost cycle will put the water clear down to the catch pan. sometimes even a scumy mold build up will block the drain. Get the drain as clean as possible and you may need to keep an eye on it so it doesn't become blocked again. After you clear the drain close the freezer and let it cool down before you put the frozen food back into the freezer.

Model #GSH25JSTCSS---Not getting any water from the water dispenser but still have ice coming out---What's the problem?

I have this same model and problem. The water line may be frozen inside the freezer door. (the line enters at the bottom hinge area of the freezer door)

Shut the unit off and leave the freezer door open ( you will need to remove your stuff you want to save first)

Next disconnect the line coming out of the Freezer door near the bottom hinge (should be a quick disconnect coupler, you will need to remove the front air grill assy to allow access to the line/coupler) and lay the line out on the floor.

After thawing the water should run out the line leaving a small puddle on the floor. Reconnect the line, plug the unit back in and test your dispenser.

Although this method restored my water dispenser to working condition, other possible causes for this include the line freezing up in the refridgerator section, bad water valve, bad relay on the motherboard, that triggers the water valve, bad motherboard. Hope this helps.

My amana frige leaks at the bottom, it is a bottom freezer frige, I moved it lately because I am laying laminate floor, any solutions?

In your shuffling of the refrigerator you may have knocked the condensate drain away from the pain near the compressor that evaporates the water back into the air inside your home. Or you may have the refrigerator leaning in a way that the water pools up near the condensate drain pipe beginning in the rear of the freezer and has frozen over and causing the water to drain over the condensate collector pan behind the rear wall of the freezer. Water leaking out the front freezer door... the bottom of freezer unit has water pooled in it frozen... melts and runs out the door

The defrost drain hole in the bottom rear portion of the freezer is frozen shut. Turn off the fridge, use a hair dryer to defrost the drain hole. Pour a 1/4 cup bleach into the hole after is is cleared out. Turn the fridge back on.

The bottom of my freezer gets water in it and freezes.

The drain tube is frozen and when the defrost cycle runs it melts all the ice and can't drain. Try laying a towel in the bottom of the freezer and slowly pouring warm water in it at the drain. This should un plug the drain. Be patient because this takes a while. To avoid all the water you can also use a hair dryer to defrost the problem drain. Hope this helps. Oh and please rate our solutions if you feel they have helped. Thanks cj2176.

We were able to fix the freezer water leak. We unscrewed the false freezer floor and the inside back panel. Ice had accumulated on the freezer floor and the defrosting drain was frozen. We removed the ice by using a blow dryer then poured boiling hot water onto the frozen drain hole. The frozen water in the drain pipe hole eventually melted and the water released into the defrosting drip pan at the bottom of the refrigerator. Problem solved. We no longer have water leaking into the refrigerator.

Bottom of freezer has water dripping into it

A bad freezer door seal causes condensation that freezes at the bottom of the unit. I realize you said the drip pan was full of ice, but if the drain is clogged, that will happen. If that unit has the pan at the very bottom, condensation can also contribute to this.
