Question about Belkin (F6C800-UNV-PL) UPS System

1 Answer

I had a mains supply failure to my house bout two days outside warranty and the unit failed to maintain an uninterrupted supply of electricity to my computer in the way that it is designed to. Since then, the unit has failed to work at all and cannot be ‘woken up’ with the various re-boots and resets available to users in the operating instructions. All the buttons and lights are inop. Belkin are not interested so i took it apart and there are no obvious faults visible. Are you aware of anyone in the uk who could repair it? Keith Tween ktween@blueyonder.co.uk

Forgive me if this seems too simple, but there is a circuit breaker button on the back of the unit. Did you press that button back in to make sure that there was not a surge or something that could have knocked it out?
Good luck!

No power at all

Possible that the main controller has failed if there is power till within the power supply unit of the controller.
You need to probe into the power supply unit to confirm for a fuse failure, a link failure on the Low tension circuit, a failure to provide power to the controller.

UNINTERRUPTIBLE POWER SUPPLY

UPS – UNINTERRUPTIBLE POWER SUPPLY
Uninterruptible power supplies provide protection against mains power faults to computer equipment.
These faults include voltage spikes/interference, over voltage and under voltage, mains supply interruptions and surge protection etc.
These faults can cause computer and electronic equipment that are connected to an unprotected mains supply to malfunction and/or sometimes fail.
A common problem, when burning Cds, DVDs etc. any slight power interruptions to the burning process will halt the recording process and rendered the disc useless.

There two type of Uninterruptible Power Supplies
The lower powered and cheaper type UPS are switch-over types, when the mains supply fails, the UPS switches over to the batteries and inverter in milli-seconds which then supplies mains power to the computer and peripherals. A faulty inverter circuit and or flat batteries won’t deliver standby power when the mains supply fails.
NOTE : The mains waveform from these UPS is a pseudo sine wave (i.e. not a true sine wave).
The true UPS types are usually the higher KVA units (over 1500 VA) that supply continuous mains power. The mains power is connected to a charger which charges the batteries and then the inverter draws power from these batteries and converts it to true sine wave mains power to the computer equipment, therefore there is no switch over time lag when the mains supply fails.

UPS - Battery Fault

UNINTERRUPTABLE POWER SUPPLY
Batteries in the UPS typically last 3 to 5 years and it depends upon several factors. Including the number of times the unit must go on battery power and environmental conditions. There are usually several batteries in the UPS and while the battery voltage may show 13 volts, this may only be a float charge/voltage and a true indication of the battery voltage and condition requires the batteries to be tested under a load. If one battery is faulty in a set of batteries it will causes the whole battery system to fail and indicate a battery fault. A faulty charging circuit will not charge the batteries and will also cause a fault condition.

Power supply malfunctioning

Most surge protection power boards will protect computer equipment from mains spikes and surges.
A better and more expensive solution is to use an uninterruptible power supply (UPS). These units provide surge and spike protection and also provide power in the event of mains power failure.
Make sure you select an UPS model that meet the power requirements of all your computer equipment that is connected to the UPS with a mains down time of say 1/2 hour to give you time to shut down your computer in an orderly manner.

My ups is not working in during main power failure (online ups not working)so what i want do ?

This usually the battery has failed or worn out and cannot supply power to the inverter to maintain mains power.
The charging circuit may have failed and cannot charge the battery.
My guess is the battery has failed and a new battery is needed.

Xerox Phaser 8400 error

When you power on the unit it goes through a series of tests to determine that the correct voltage is going to each system within the phaser. The error code you've provided implies a Preheater error 37,008.44
AC power supplied by power sources such as uninterruptible power supplies (UPSs) or DC-to-AC inverter systems may not supply correct voltage to properly power up the printer. Likewise, other devices sharing the same AC circuit can cause AC voltage sags that cause the printer to fail its AC heater PEST tests (Print Engine Self Test).
My first suggestion is to remove any other devices from the electrical outlet the printer is on, and then power it on.
If the error persists, you've got a hardware failure internally and would need to replace the preheater and deskkew assembley, Xerox PN 119641980
By the way, the last 4 digits in your error code are the current page count of your printer. This number is relatively low and thus it begs the question is the printer still under warranty? The part in question is about $110, however installing it will not be an easy task if you've never taken a Phaser 8400 apart or you do not have a service manual.
My suggestion, if the machine is out of warranty, is that you bring it to a qualified repair technician for service, unless you feel comfortable doing the repair yourself.
best of luck in any regard

When turning on central air, our main electrical breaker is tripping. This is a brand new home barely over 1 year old. Should the AC have a warranty not covered by a builders contract??

Builders give a one year warranty but your air conditioner has five years on all parts. Anything outside the unit is not covered under the ac warranty. Breakers, stopped up drain and dirty coils.

Compressor valve failure

That is not correct. The system is not mis-matched. They just put a heavy condensor outside to get more air volume for your house. The failure of the valve is not to common of a failure but can and will fail. The problem with Palm Springs is the weather you get there, From very hot to very windy with sand storms to freezing rain and sometimes snow depending on where you are. What is the tech wanting to cahrge to replace the valve? Also this is something that should have been looked at closey and examined before the home was bought and that should have been known by the realator

Maytag MSD2756DE refrigerator start relay keeps failing. Suspicion is that very short (1-5 second) interruptions in the electric supply are the cause My question: Would an appropriately sized...

An interruption in the power supply would usually show in other electrical fixtures in the house. A UPS is not recommended for a power back up on a refrigerator.

The condition you describe usually indicates that either the compressor is working too hard and drawing too much current or the start relay is gone bad. The starting and stopping that you hear is a safety shut-off within the relay. A good place to start is changing start relay for the factory recommended one.

If the standard relay does not correct the problem, there is in most cases a temporary fix, it is called a hard start relay/capacitor. It is usually available from an appliance parts retailer for around $15 to $20. Installation instructions are included, just be sure to unplug your refrigerator first and make sure that someone following you can repair from where you left off. This relay assembly can normally get you up and running but it should not be used as a permanent fix. This will not correct for a refrigerant leak in the system. Outside of this may require having a professional come in to fix the issue, it can range anywhere from a faulty compressor to a refrigerant leak.

Check your refrigerator owners manual before making any repairs or modifications to your refrigerator, there may be an extended warranty on the sealed system and compressor if needed.
