Microwave spacemaker shuts off after a few seconds then asks you to rest clock

shutting off the breaker was the first thing I did before attempting to get a solution from FixYa. By the way that was "shuts off after a few seconds display sputters then reads RESET clock." I think basic common sense would lead you to try to reset. I hope EXPERT advice is still on its way for the money.

The problem with your GE microwave is a bad cooling fan. Check it for continuity with a multimeter and make sure the fan blade is in place. There is a tech sheet behind the top grill or inside the control panel that will give you the proper motor resistance value. If your motor is good then you will need to replace the bad control board.

Turn off the breaker in your electric box and then turn it back on, to see if the controls reset.

GE Spacemaker shuts off after a few seconds and asks for the clock to be reset

Ge Spacemaker comes on ok but after a few seconds the noise level goes up significantly and it does not heat. It keeps running until the time runs out but it doesn't heat.

GE spacemaker Power goes off and clock needs resetting

Try going to the breaker box and shutting off the power to the microwave for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, turn back on and set the clock. This fixed my clock and turntable both. Apparently turning off the power resets the software in the clock.

Reset clock, ge spacemaker xl1800 times out after 2-3 seconds

There's a simple fix for this. Unplug the unit. Take off the top grill with 2 screws. Remove the 1 screw that holds the touch pad unit. Lift up on touchpad unit and lift out. Put a piece of aluminum foil inside a large zip lock bag and tape it to the back of the touchpad unit and reassemble. GE put the magnetron to close to the control board causing stray microwaves to interfere with the board. The foil shields it.

Oven shuts down after a few seconds into cycle time for cooking

The magnatron (heating element) is located in the cavity behind the control. If it's leaking microwaves onto the electronics, this will occur. This means the Mag should be replaced and a radiation test run on unit.
