Don't waste your money troubleshooting. It's The Crank Knock Sensor. Very common issue. Also save the heartache and don't buy a used one as it almost assuredly will be bad also.

Check out the manufacturers web site, some manufactureres have users manuals for their watches which can be downloaded. You may be lucky. You could also try some of the various manuals websites. They have manuals for all manor of things. Good Luck

A few weeks ago my set started flashing to a black screen. Now a couple of weeks later, i have no picture, but the set turns on and i have sound. The standby light is flashing. I purchased the set in 2000 so it is seven years old. This is the first problem. Could it be all three of the bulbs?

as you say that sound is ok that means your power supply &high voltage section is ok.
please check chroma ic luminance section or system control section stand by ckt
