SOURCE: ps3 hdmi is saying format not supported on my 32"

hi
there maybe some problem with ur tvs resolution. ps3 outputs full hd high resolution video(1080p) through its hdmi. may be your tv is not supporting that resolution. connect ps3's component video out to ur tv and then try. if it ask for any resolution selection. select 720p or 1080i, above that resolution ur tv will not support. ur tv is hd ready one, not full hd. ps3 's hdmi out is full hd (1080p).
or try this
connect ur ps3 to any full hd tv and then goto video setup of ur ps3. change resolution to 1080i (down scaling ). then connect to ur tv via hdmi. surly u will get the video.
ok

are you using the standard playstation to rca jack, if so it should have no problem connecting to the tv rca inputs unless your in the usa visiting from germany, or england or something, and the ps3 wouldnt care if that was the case because that connection is an output only your ps3 has no idea what your connecting it to. that 'does not support format' message has to be about something else

Samsung 2007 27" TX-T3092WH will not support HDMI or cannot see PS3?

HI,
Do one thing While PS3 is in standby mode press and hold the power button on the frond panel of PS3 for 30 seconds (factory reset). After doing this you will get video from its composite video.

Also check the hdmi If you didnt get the video through HDMI then,
PS3 out puts Full HD 1080P video through its HDMI out put. IF your tv doesn't support Full HD then it will display format not supported or Software not support.
If you want to get video through HDMI then do the following.
Connect the PS3 to any Full HD tv (friends or relatives) and go to its menu ,select HDMI settings. then down scale the video from 1080p to 1080i.
After that connect the PS3 to your tv you will surely get the video.

Screen says "format not supported"

You need to lower your PS3 video resolution, Google the web on how to change the PS3 video resolution.
See examples here:

Right now it is too high for this small TV to display.

When i connect my ps3 to the tv it says format not supported

Hi. Hook up your PS3 to you TV with the HDMI cable. Now, when you turn on your PS3, hold the power button on the PS3 for 5 seconds. It will reset the PS3 video options and recognize the HDMI connection. It will then search for the correct resolution settings on the TV. Press (X) to confirm. And that's it. You should be set. If not, then the TV is acting rather strange.

Tried to hook up blue ray player but it say mode not supported. It is a PS3 and will playj games but not blue raqy movies.

First of all, you have to tell the PS3 what connection you are using. Next, the Blu-Ray format is encoded in 1080p, so if your tv does not support 1080p you will have to go in to the setup menu on the PS3 and tell it to use a format your TV can handle.

No color

Sounds like you are having a issue with color format or a bad connection cable... In the US we use the NTSC color format, Japan uses NTSC-J, and Europe uses PAL. This matters quite a bit; if you have some Special Edition PS3 that they only sell in Japan and have it plugged into your Flatscreen TV in the UK no dice. Make sure you do not have conflicting regions for your hardware. Moreover, make sure the pixel resolution is not out of bounds for your TV's range. The PS3 has different connection cables for every kind of connection; RCA, HD, HDMI. I recommend using HDMI if your TV supports it.
