Unplug the set and remove back cover; follow power cord inside---the fuse should be in a holder and if blown will be blackened inside.

Amperage of fuse will be marked on it and on board next to it; DO NOT BUY REPLACEMENT at Radio Shack, get one from a regular parts dealer, the Generic ones RS sells may blow for no reason.

let me know if you have questions.

House struck by lightning and no picture in tv

I am so sorry but you should have claimed that on insurance. The amount of damage to all the solid state items in that set would mean that you are going to be replacing everything.

Hello a ligtening strike near my house burned out the audio video input board at the back of my set. a repair man came and said the part is no longer available but he could send it to an electronics place...

It's hard to find new parts for older sets like that one. It is very common to have to get boards rebuilt in older sets. Being the a/v board, I would feel pretty safe using a rebuilt board as long as lightning doesn't hit again. There isn't much that will cause one to fail other than lightning. A lot of shops will give you an estimate to replace the set, that you will then give to your insurance company if it's going to be that expensive.

Lightning hit my printer

I'm pretty positive that once the lightning hits it it's gone for good. You can take it to someone in the electronics department of any store to have them look at it, but you are likely to get the same answer. Your best bet would be to have a waranty and get a new one.

LIGHTNING HIT IT

This could be bad.. You want to check the fuse in the power supply. If you are lucky that is all that is bad. If the lightning got thought the fuse you could have real problems. You would have to replace at least two boards, one being the power supply board and the other could be the signal board or digital board. Sometimes they unitize the signal and digital boards as one board. Lightning can do strange things. sometimes it will just take out a diode and fuse Sometimes it can trash a set making it cost prohibitive to repair.. Good luck.

TV won't turn on

It may be too late for this advice, but if you live in a lightning prone area, you should consider having a 'whole house surge protector' installed.
The cost should be well under $300 (a lot less if you install it) and with the included insurance (most often for $25,000) it is a good investment.

If your house was struck, I'm surprised you don't have a list of things that no longer work.
It could just be an expired TV.

Lightning strike

Hello bkindle.....not a boat anchor YET!!!! Had similar problem with WS-55513 and it turned out to be a faulty DM board. There are 4 capacitors on the board that may have blown. If yo can solder, it is a pretty easy repair. I purchased a PDF manual for mine online to get familiar with the model.

Otherwise, you can expect to pay between 275.00 for a repaired board OR between 350.00 and 450.00 for a replacement board from Sears or Mitsubishi.

Hope this helps. I know it is frustrating but be patient.

Good Luck - Richard (MetalDad)

Lightning strike

Lightning hits do some nasty damage to electronics.
Alot of times that type of repair is part of an insurance claim. The insurance company requires estimates and will repair them up to the cost of replacement.

If you arent dealing with an insurance claim on this I'd still recommend a professional estimate.
Lightning damage sometimes is confined to the power supply and once repaired could be fine bit in my experience most items that take a nasty hit are a write off.

Lightning hit last night tv won't work cable company says it's in the television

Sorry to here about your problem! This is the time of year I used to get tons and tons of sets, stereos ,games, and vcrs in for repair. On your panasonic it seems that maybe the surge took out the tuner portion or the power supply. It sould cost aprox. 200 bucks or so for a new tuner. Im sure your aware that homeowners will cover almost all repair after the deductable. Good Luck
