Hi
When the dryer wont start it is the thermal fuse that is bad, you can test it with a voltmeter before replacing. This fuse is located inside the rear panel and it cannot be reset.

Hope this will help...

The start switch start the dryer but shuts itself when we release the button

Several different components could be preventing your dryer from continuing to run when the start button is released. The wiring diagram and other technical information for your dryer are shown in the image below. When the start (PTS or Push To Start) button is pushed, the PTS contact is closed and voltage is supplied to the drive motor. Start voltage is also sensed through the blue/black wire that is connected to the P1-5 Start Sense pin on the control board. When the control board senses the start voltage, it normally applies 48 volts DC voltage through the Pink/Black wire to the motor relay to hold the contact closed between the two blue wires attached to the motor relay that supplies normal run voltage to the drive motor. With the start button taped down, the motor continues to run since it gets voltage through the closed start button. Since the motor stops running when the start button is released, it indicates that you have one of these 3 failures:
Broken or disconnected Start Sense wire.

Failed electronic control board that is not sending the 48 volts DC voltage through the motor relay Failed motor relay. Wiring failure between the components.
Since the motor relay and the heater relay are both exactly the same part, you could unplug the dryer and switch the motor and heater relay to see if the dryer will stay running. If it does, then you just need to order and replace the bad relay.

Thermal fuse failure

If the relay sticks, that will cause overheating and the thermal fuse to blow.

Kenmore 110 Dryer Model 96273100 won't start but I hear ticking in the timer. I replaced the PTS. Still nothing.

Replace the thermal fuse located on the left side of the main exhaust duct.
It is 1 and 1/2 inches long by 1/2 inches wide and white in color.

Only runs when PTS is held in

Hello , the pts switch is a momentary switch and the motor takes over after pressed , the clutch inside the motor has failed. Replace motor for the fix.

The dryer does not stay on after hitting the PTS, but if you continue to press the PTS it stays on. I order a new PTS, but could it be a relay issue

There is a relay inside that has contact on it that holds the power to the coil on after you release the switch. It's called a "maintaining contact". You could try to take apart the relay and replace the contacts, but it's probably easier to just replace the relay. It is for sure, however, not the start switch. You need a new relay.

Dryer will not start

Make sure there is 240V at the electrical outlet.
Check the thermal fuse, PTS (push to start) switch, drive motor and timer.
If these are ok, please let me know and I will try to help.
Good luck!
