The M35X series is known for a graphics chip that breaks loose from the motherboard. The computer will still charge the battery, but it can't even route graphics ththrought the chip to an external monitor. There are videos on Youtube about how to "reflow" the solder on the chip to get it to work again, but it's a temporary fix. There are also some places that can resolder the chip to the motherboard.

On the whole, unless you really, really need that specific machine to work, you should either get a whole new motherboard for it or get a whole new computer.

if you dont see anything on the screen, the LEDs blink for a few seconds and then go dark, and if the Fan spins up for a second and then also stops, you're probably looking at a motherboard failure. The problem is with the Maxim 1987 power driver chip. You'll have to resolder the chip. This chip is next to the power plug and it takes less than an hour to do the repair. Toshiba Satellite black screen driver error

If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LED flashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow my instructions to identify the fault and possible fix :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3598095-faulty_laptop_lcd_screen

Power on but no screen oor hard disk motion

Hello there:
i would suggest using a spare monitor and connect the cord that would normally go into a computer and connect it to the laptop and then plug in the power cord for the monitor and turn on the computer if this works and everything is ok then you know that the laptop screen may be faulty or there may be a loose connection somewhere ok?

Blue screen with error codes

That is probably a disk error, related to the NTFS file system.
Did you try a "chkdsk /f" command to check and fix the disk?

Microsoft has more information on it in the knowledge base.

For further blue screen error troubleshooting check this article.

System Restore

It seems that your computer is not booting from DVD-ROM drive nor hard disk, but is trying to establish a network setup of the operating system.

You have to go to BIOS settings and correct these preferences by making your hard disk the first boot device. Of course that would be a solution if you have operating system installed on it. If there is no operating system installed on the hard disk, you will need to install it. In this case, your first boo device would DVD-ROM or CD-ROM, whichever available.
