The oven cavity lamp is hidden up on top. You have to unplug the oven and remove the single piece top/side cover to get at it. Typically, you have to take out screws on the back of the oven along the top and side edges. Sometimes there are also screws in the sides and rarely along the bottom edge. Once you get these screws out, pull the cover back about 1/2" and lift it away. Look for a standard appliance light bulb right over the holes in the oven cavity ceiling or wall where the light normally shines in.

How do I replace the bulb for the display panel of a Sharp Microwave oven Model # R-314F ?

Normally switch power off and remove plug from wall socket, undo screws around side and back panel and remove outer cover, then the light socket will be visable so change light bulb and reassemble, CAUTION: high voltage may be present so best left to service person for safety

Cooktop light socket needs replacing, bulb broke in it. Socket needs replacing.

make sure the light is off, better yet turn off the breaker

take a potato a little larger than the socket, cut it to size, whatever.. jam it into the broken bulb (carefully), this will allow you to grip the broken bulb safely. turn counter clockwise and whats left of the bulb should unscrew out.. works VERY well

On June 5 $9.00 was deducted from our Visa account paid to FixYa, Inc. My husband asked a question about changing the light in our microwave oven. He never received a response or if he did it possibly...

Hello,
You will be needing a Flathead or Phillips screwdriver to perform this task.

Please follow the instructions below:
1. Unplug the microwave oven from the outlet. Wait 20 minutes for the capacitor that is inside the microwave to discharge.
2. Unscrew all the screws around the casing by turning them counterclockwise.
3. Remove the cover by lifting off.
4. Locate the light bulb in the microwave. This will be located on either the right or left side.
5. Unscrew the light bulb by unscrewing counterclockwise. Some light bulbs are held into the socket by two notches; for these you will need to gently push on the bulb and turn counterclockwise to unsecure the bulb, then pull out of the socket.
6. Place your new bulb in the empty socket and secure by turning clockwise until tight, or if the bulb is one with notches on both sides, then guide the notches into the slot on the socket, push gently and turn clockwise until clicked into position.
7. Replace the cover and screw back on. You are now done and may plug back in the microwave.
Good luck.

Have an installed GE Microwave jvm1870 with a burned out oven bulb. Have replacement bulb but can not see how to get to the old bulb to replace it.

From the owner's manual:

Cooktop Light/Night Light

On models JVM1850, JNM1851, DVM1850 and EMO4000, replace the burned-out bulb with a 120 volt, 40-watt incandescent bulb (WB36X10003), available from your GE supplier.

On models JVM1870, JVM1871, JVM2050 and JVM3670, replace the burned-out bulb with a 120 volt,
20-watt halogen bulb (WB36X10213), available from your GE supplier.

To replace the bulb(s), first disconnect the power at the main fuse or circuit breaker panel or pull the plug.

Remove the screw at the left edge of the light cover and push on the right edge of the cover to open.

Be sure the bulb(s) to be replaced are cool before removing.

After breaking the adhesive seal, remove the bulb by either gently turning (for models JVM1850, JNM1851, DVM1850 and EMO4000) or pulling straight out (for models JVM1870, JVM1871, JVM2050 and JVM3670).

Replace with the same size and type bulb.

Raise the light shield and replace the screw.

Connect electrical power to the oven.

Oven Light

To replace the oven light, first disconnect the power at the main fuse or circuit breaker panel or pull the plug.

Remove the top grille by taking out the screws on top of the grille that hold it in place and sliding the grille to the left (opening the door makes grille removal easier).

Next, remove the light cover.

On some models, the light cover is located in the center of the top opening.

Remove the screw that secures the light cover and lift the cover off.

On some models, the light cover is located at the left of the top opening.

Lift the cover off.

Pinch the clips that hold the light socket in place and lift the socket out.

Remove the bulb from the light socket by pulling straight out.

Replace with the same size and type bulb, then replace the light socket and cover.

Replace the grille and screws.

Connect electrical power to the oven.

Can't remove light bulb part from the fan unit. It's stuck!

Make sure the microwave is either unplugged, or if hardwired, turn the breaker off.
Spray a little WD-40 between the stuck base of the bulb and the socket and let it sit for a few minutes.
There are several ways to do this, depending upon how much room you have to get your hands in.
You can take a pair of needle nose pliers and open them inside the base of the bulb so that the ends of the pliers are jammed against the side, and turn to your left with both hands.
you can jam something like one plastic coated handle of electrician's wire cutters in the socket so you hold the other end and the friction gets it started.
Once you get it broken loose, you should be able to take of side of the socket with the needle nose pliers and grab hard, and turn to your left. As long as the power is off, you can't get hurt and you won't hurt anything.

Interior Microwave doesnt come on..Burned out?

If it doesn't have a door you have to remove the cover. Its likely a special microwave bulb and the socket will have to be replaced with the bulb. the bulb is built onto the socket.
