Question about Teac GF-350 CD Shelf System

1 Answer

I got the unit(gf-350)home from the store and set it up.at first it worked okay..but only for about two hours.i noticed that the cd's were getting unusually warm after being recorded on.after about two hours of recording i began to get error messages.in particular error 3,then i began to get error 4 and then 7 and 8.i generally get error 4 when i attempt to do anything now.i can't record cd's at all now as i get that error code..the turntable plays fine however.my pre-recorded(store bought)cd's seem to play fine, although the unit seems to have a long time recognising them.i hate to think that i have to return the unit after only using it for a couple hours.could it be the media i'm recording on?i'm recording on memorex cd's that are marked "music" as i'm assuming their the same as the music type that the manual states is required.if not,i can try another .the cd's don't actually have "digital music " or "digital audio"on the lable...only "music"..hope you can help..thanx

It sounds to me you have manufacture defect, you said it worked fine for two hours and then you ran into problems, if there were issues with the cd's they would not have played. I would do yourself a favor and return it for exchange or for a different unit.

Firstly double check that the recordable discs you have bear the label "Digital Audio" on them as per the attached picture. Secondly what happens when you go through the finialise procedure in the manual? Do you see the ?FIn--d? display when you select the finialise button? Do you see ?NO TOC? and ?REC? indicators blinking at the next step? Please update the question & let us know if the information given was useful to you - Good Luck!

Trying to finalize a cd

Hi, This is just a guess but it may be worth a try. I have heard that Audio CD-Rs, which are the only media this machine will record onto, are famous for being finicky about being played on different kinds of CD readers. My suggestion is that you "rip" the Audio CD-R's content to your computer (in .wav or .MP3 format) and then make a copy of your album onto a reagular CD-R which is more likely to be played on any CD reader. Not sure if this'll work for you but it's worth a shot. Hope this helps.
