Verbitim disks might just be the problem.
I have had some experiences in which crappy discs just wouldn't cut it.
I used to own one of those and when I swiched to a better disc it fixed the problem

When I insert a blank DVD+R to copy a VHS, It reads the disk, says "Unknown Disk" and ejects it. How do I record if I can't keep a disk in the machine?

some discs don't work in some recorders. I always use verbatim, ritek or tdk discs and have very few problems. if the recorder suddenly dislikes a batch of one brand, I'll use one of the others.

My dvd drive burns the files to the disk successfully and it shows also. but when i try to put it again the disk it dosent show any files

you might have finalised the disk after its burn or
you need to choose to burn a multisession disc so you can add more photos or to finalize the disc after the burn if the burning software supports multisession
you can add these photos on at a time or select the folder to add

your burning software might not have the capability of a multisession burn

hope this helps

I can play audio CD but CAN NOT PLAY DVD or BURN DVD on LG GE20LU10

Hello, Your computer will automatically install the basic drivers for the burner to view cds but to burn a dvd or music cd or data cd or photo cd you will need software to do so. Windows XP and newer operating systems have a simple burning software using Windows Explorer which will pull the appropriate application automatically. I recommend a program such as Nero which originally comes with most burners. But for a more advance and controlled burning program Roxio has the easiest and most versatile program for about 50.00. Keep in mind if you want to make back-up copies of bought DVD movies or software you will have to have a specific program such as DVDFab. I can send you a copy of the actual software Cd that originally comes with your burner if you need it as I have bought several LG burners which now I have multiple copies of the software with OEM Keys. They have Nero V6.6 which is good for simple disk burning. Also keep in mind when buying blank disk NEVER buy the cheap unknown brands or the cheesy store brand disks as you will waste more disk due to bad coatings than you would if you bought better brands such as Memorex or Sony. Verbatim brand is a good inexpensive disk perfect for learning how a burner works due to the cost being reasonable and if you make a mistake burning the disk its not as bad a monetary loss. After you learn how to use the burner and program and you are ready to make good permanent disks then get an archival type disk with at least a 50 year storage time, (Your local computer store will help you with picking out the right kind, these disks are expensive but if you want to store vital photos or such this is the kind you need). Also A DVD-R is the most versatile disk for most players old and new and a DVD R if more for burning on the "fly" and for newer expensive players. A CD/DVD

I have just burned digital photos to dvd+rw disc. When I insert the disc into our Philips blue ray player (BDP3000) it reads ''unknown disc.''Why is this? The manual states that these discs should be...

Chances are the disk is not finalized. dvd+r and dvd+rw need to be finalized before they can be viewed on any other player than the one they were made on. If you have the instructions to the burner, then it should be easy to learn how to finalize the disc. If not, I would suggest googling the burner and find online instructions. Good luck!

Unknown disk error on philips dvp 3020

I would guess that it's an incompatible disk format. If your burning software allows you to pick different types check the Philips manual for a compatible format

Finalizing

Use a name-brand DVD, such as HP, Verbatim, etc. and make sure it is a DVD+R or DVD-RW/-R disk only.
It is most likely that the DVD you are using is not compatible.
The disk is still usable, but you can only read it on that player.

Finalized disk won't play in other players

You might check your burner to see if it is working correctly. If you are using the same media and it worked before, perhaps the burner or the burning software is not working correctly.

Rewriting on Verbatim DVD-RW

when you burn disks you have to choose the option "appendable disk"(or in simple words to create a disk where you can add information -data-later if you wish to do so)
If you just record the data on a cd without this option you will get the error -disk is full-

Dvd recorder

Hi Nickstart, start checking if the problem is related with the kind of Disk and test on different brands, disk types.
Even if a recorder is supposed to work fine on both +R, -R etc. , often you find out, that due to error correction methor, a device worksd well on one or the other type.

Your DVD supports the following DVDs -R, -RW, -RAM, all -R disks are supported both on 3'' and 5''.
On +R it just writes regular DVD +R, DVD +RW and mini DVD +R are not listed in DVD specs, therefore are not supported on writing.
When your unit records DVD +R it changes the format to DVD-V, The usint does not support DVD+RV.

I assume it works better with -R

I often get troubles with many DVD low price brands, try testing some good ones like Verbatim, TDK, Sony , Philips etc.

See also the manual here, at page 6 and 7 it also says: "Play may be impossible on some DVD-RW (DVD Video Recording format), +RW, CD-R or CD-RW discs due to the condition of the
recording."

Hope this had been helpful, test both a good brand DVD-R and a Good brand DVD+R.
If it still has problems when finalizing the CD, then it can be the usual lens problem, Or the DVD you are writing is too big in size and your player has problem on the final phase of DVD writing. If Data nearly takes all the 4.7 Gb allowed, there won't be enough space to finalize the DVD.
