Question about Microsoft Zune JS8-00001 Digital Media Player

1 Answer

Alright, I have a 16 gb hd zune player. i synced the zune and then used the safely remove hardware to unplug it. the strange thing was is that i didnt show up as zune to remove it, just mass storage device. so i hit that and unpugged it. then my computer shut down and my zune wont turn on or recognize the computer, and when i tried plugging it back in and removing it after i turned the computer back on, and i tried to safely remove hardware. well, the computer had two options, mass storage device and zune. i hit zune, and then it wouldnt go anywhere or do anything on my computer, so i unplugged the zune. and now my computer screen is slightly shaky so i am suspecting a bug or virus? help please.

Ok, updated the driver stuff. it is now at the highest level, but the problem is still, occurring including the computer screen shaking. Zune will not turn on, etc.

It could be a driver issue. Run a driver update and see if that fixes it, you can download the updated software from http://zune.net/en-US/

Hi,

Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.

How to use my zune for internet and downloads

You have to use the Zune Software to sync the music, pictures, or videos to your Zune. The software can be found here: http://www.zune.net/en-us/products/software/default.htm. It may take a while to download, depending on your internet connection. While it is downloading, you should make an account for your zune. Drag the files from your music collection to the Zune icon in the left corner, while it is plugged in, and your Zune will sync. After it is finished, unplug it, and your done. You may have to tell the Zune software where your files are on the hard drive, located in the settings page of the software.

Dont know how to set up zune with laptop

Just download the software from zune.net and then connect your Zune HD to your laptop with the USB cable and you can then add all of your media to the device. In order to wirelessly sync your device you'll need to first connect it with the cable and setup the wireless sync settings. After that you don't need to use the cable to connect your Zune to your laptop.

8 GB zune, unplugged it while it was charging and it wont turn on

Try to restart the Zune using this procedure:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/946064?sd=zune

If this does not work then you can try resetting it to Factory Defaults:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927001/en-us

Only do this if absolutely necessary, all content will be erased from the Zune. Not a huge deal if you have it all on your PC with the Zune software but still a last resort.

If neither of these work then you have a hardware problem.

Downloading podcasts

On your computer, you can set your podcasts to sync to your Zune automatically or one at a time by dragging them to the device icon.
SET PODCAST SYNC OPTIONS
  1. In the Zune software, click the device icon, then click Settings, Podcasts.
  2. Choose your podcast sync settings.
What and how you want to sync is completely up to you. You can choose to:
  • Sync all downloaded episodes.
  • Sync all unplayed or partially played episodes.
  • Sync only the first unplayed episode. This setting saves a lot of space—only one episode lives on your Zune at any time.
  • Don't sync any episodes.

You have to use the proprietary Zune software to sync podcasts - the instructions are vague, so I would go to the Zune support forum to get further instructions on this:
http://www.zune.net/en-us/support/usersguide/gettingstarted/setupfaq.htm
