If it trips the breaker, you have a short somewhere from the cord to the motor. If not, be sure to wait until it's plugged in before you turn the switch on. Turn it off before you unplug it.

Our rainbow e2 black type 12 vaccum was meant to be used on 110v and was plugged into a 220v, what part needs to be changed to convert the machine to work with 220v

nothing that I can guess at but changing the motor to a 220 . might be more cost effective to purchase a new vacuum cleaner .or use a 110 convertor for your outlets

Spark caused vaccum to turn off

Some vacuums have a reset button you can push. Some have a fuse in the power line that may have blown. You will have to follow the power all the way through the vacuum checking the voltage at each switch, connection, etc. I often unhook the power & neutral wires from the motor and hook up a power cord with connectors on the end directly to the motor to make sure the motor is good. You must be very knowledgable with motors, switches, electrical testing, etc. If not this repair is best left to a professional.

It is a dirt devil Royal which I use to vaccum stair steps. it is a new vaccum . not it will not work, the brush will not rotate. I looked to see if some hair was the problem but no hair or fuss. ...

Hi, I am sorry it took this long to get back to you and I promise I will get right on this. We are having issues with our e mail notifications.
You say this is a new vacuum, do you mean brand new? never used before? I am going to look into the dirt devil problems and see if we can narrow down the causes. I assume you tried this in several outlets to make sure it is not the outlet. Does the motor run at all? or is it running but the brush not turning and not picking up dirt.?

Electric short

Remove the electrical cord and check the conituity for a short. If one replace the cord. If no short is found the motor is fried although the switch would have to be on when it smokes so I think you have a bad cord

Was vacuuming with no problem and the vaccum just shut off. . .what can I do?

Check that the electrical cord if fully inserted in the
wall outlet. See if the vac has a circuit breaker switch
on the electrical plug called a GCFI,or on the vac itself, which probably has tripped. Good luck.

Is there suction where the pipe hooks to the cannister? If so, then are all of the outlets without suction? Maybe the hose is plugged. If the hose is ok, and there is suction at the cannister, then **** up a small **** of paper, one for each room outlet, have a number on each piece of paper, Which ever one doesn't ,ake it thru to the cannasiter is the outlet that is plugged. You can use a plumbers snake to clean out a clogged outlet or even a clogged hose.

If the motors are running and sound ok, then there has to be suction at the outlet on the cannister. If the filter bag is old, it may be best to replace it with a new one.

Will not start again.

If the cord sparked, then it is bad and needs replaement. If it sparked at the plug end, then replace the plug.

Central vaccum

If the outlets work on the 2nd story ok, and not on the 1st floor, then you may have a wire that has come loose. There maybe a junction that split off between the 1st and 2nd floor. I assume you are talking about the suction and not the brush roll on the power head. If it is the power head not working, then check where the 2 prongs go into the outlets to make sure that the plug receptacle haven't gotten pushed in from the holder.
