This error ocurr when FUSER is not working. To troubleshoot this problem this is what I would like you to do:
1- Check if FUSER is out of place and/or if all wires are conected
2- There is a connection coming from the LVPS (Power supply) to the FUSER, are that wires connected?, if so: What is the voltage?
When you don't have voltage at those wires then your problem is your LVPS, if you do have voltage then the problem is at the FUSER.
For further troubleshooting I would need more info. Hope this help you
Thanks. JORGE

My brothers printer 2170w has toner sprayed all over in printout

Three possibles for this.
1 A faulty cartridge dropping toner on the paper as it passes through the drum. - remove the toner cartridge and look for lots of loose toner in the drum.
2 The drum cylinder is dirty and needs to be cleaned with alcohol and a cotton ball. Toner can build up on the drum cylinder and also the cleaning brush inside the drum assembly. These would need to be cleaned - or replace the drum. And 3 progressively either or both of the above two may have lead to a build up of toner on the fuser at the back of the machine. In very bad cases the teflon type coating on the fuser may have peeled. If the fuser is dirty, it can be removed and cleaned. If it has become damaged - forget it, just buy a new machine.

I get a ghost image when printing

2 things can cause this problem.Since I can not see the problem all I can do is tell both problems.If the image is black like toner in both places then you probably have a defective fusing assembly with coating worn off.It acts like a Teflon skillet with teflon worn off. The eggs stick to where the coating is missing.So with that said if coating is missing from fuser then toner sticks and comes off on the page on the next revolution.The other problem is with the drum/toner cartridge.The drum is not cleaning after the print is put on the page causing the image to repeat on the page.

The surface of the drum has a chemical coating that the toner sticks to if it gets scratched it will damage it. If you are getting grayish printed pages then that indicated that the drum coating is wearing off and the drum needs to be replaced.

All pages print completely Black

completely black print outs indicate the drum needs to be replaced. If you are not familiar with this the drum is the part in the printer that transfers the image to the paper using the toner. It has a coating on it that reacts with the laser to produce the charged image that attracts the toner but when the coating is used or worn out it basically puts an "image" across the entire page so you get a black page. The part number you need to get is DR-250 and they are available from Office Depot or other toner supply stores.

I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.

Just copy file..always jam..messagge"papper jam

Causes for paper jams in Printers are given below:

* Dust or debris
* Rotating drum problem
* Toner or fuser complaint

Dust or debris

One of the main causes for paper jams is the presence of dirt, dust, or debris in your toner cartridge. The paper coming into the cartridge would get stuck. So clean your printer regularly. Remove the dust from the printer. Also find out whether any jams occurred in the sensor hole in the upper part of the rotating drum. Do not touch the roller while cleaning. If the oil in your body gets into the roller, the printing media cannot roll over it properly and you can't get rid of the printer problem.

Rotating drum problem

If there is no direct symptom of paper jam and still you cannot do printing properly, find whether it is because of drum problem. If the paper gets into the end gear of the rotating drum and gets stuck there, you cannot access the printing function. Switch off your printer and check the plastic arms of the printer drum. If there is any paper piece jammed in any of the arms, you can't continue printing. Here also cleaning is the best method to solve the problem. While cleaning, check the arms of the rotating drum.

Toner or fuser complaint

Toner complaint may also cause paper jams. It can be solved only by replacing it. When you switch on the loop back plug in, two flash lights appear; then it indicates paper jam. The oil spillage in toner can cause this problem. If the toner cartridge is not functioning properly, the same problem would be the result. The diodes or transistors in the fuser unit of the printer may get damaged and this can lead to fuser complaints. To solve this problem, you should replace it.

What is the Drum?

The drum is a selenium coated sort of roller that has the image of your copy document tranfered onto it. As it rotates this image is tranfered to your new copy paper. It then is demagnetised and the toner returns to the toner catcher. The drum coating has a finite life and the mesaage is telling you that its life is near its end and a new drum or new machine will be required soon.

Cleaned the drum by running the slider on Brother IntelliFax 2800

Clean the corona wire, reclean the drum, check the toner cartridge. The cartridge may not be positioned properly, causing extra toner to be displaced.
