Broke the tip on my kensington power adapter for my laptop and can't find where to buy a new one with out buying the whole thing

I would be amazed if you could locate such a part. These are not sold, as it is expected that if a power adapter is damaged, it should be replaced. Sorry for the bad news, but you will need to buy a new adapter. If it is any consolation, it would not have to be the "brand name" version, but could be a compatible "generic" if you want to save some money.

Even if it were possible to replace one piece of an adapter, it would not be a good idea, given the amount of damage (catastrophic range) that would likely be done to your PC. Please post back if you need more help. Otherwise, thank you for using and rating FixYa!

You can contact Kensington's customer service and see whether they will ship you a replacement. As an alternative, you could buy another Kensington Wireless Pilot Board mouse and use its receiver. As a third alternative, you could buy another Kensington wireless mouse or keyboard and see whether the receiver for that will pick up the Pilot Board keyboard. Finally, you could buy another wireless mouse or keyboard (not Bluetooth) and see whether its receiver will pick up the Pilot Board.

What kind of adapter did you buy? Did it come with 5 - 10 different tips that you try on the end of the power cord until you find one that will fit into your laptop? If so, no wonder you're having problems, those things will burn your board out. AC Adapters have different power requirements (watts) If you have one that has changeable tips, but the watts are constant, you're asking for trouble. Stay away from those one size fits all Ac Adapter Power Cords

I have an Asus Eee and would like to use my Kensington Universal car/air adapter to power it. As far as the voltage is concerned, there is no problem as the laptop runs on 19V which there is a fitting...

The physical connection is one thing. If it looks the same it may work, however you might want to know the amps as well, and if the tip is positive or negative. As an alternative the USB adapter may be easier fix and even WalMart has one that fits in the cigarette lighter. My Asus is 19v. 2.1amp, with a tip +.

My Kensington 90w ac power adapter w/ usb is not working due to the transformer breaking down, the power from the mains plug is working fine any sujjections???
If the trnformer is broken then the only thing i suggest is to buy a replacement.

Do you mean only the power cable that linked the power brick with laptop was broken? Of course if you are 100% sure that's the only part that fail, you may only buy a cable. Check this link blow:

Replacement tips for Kensington 120W AC/DC adapter model 33197
I have the same model adapter for my dell, I believe there is a number on the tip that you need, have you tried ebay for the part they are called 'smart tips'. I think it's a different adapter direct from kensington now, but you can buy them from 3rd parties.

In the same boat. I've contacted Dell and gave him a good talking too. They sell the Kensington, advertised as compatible with XPS when it's not. It's false advertising and should refund you.
