To check if something is wrong with the sub-woofer ..change the plug in the central outlet ...and see if it works ...If it does it means that something is wrong with the woofer chanel amplifier..chip and need to be changed..
also check the sound mode...in the menu ..not to be on stereo instead of surround..(5=1 mode..) cause in this case you will only have sound on the left right ..
if the outlet for the woofer is dead... connect it with the central until you will solve the issue on a professional ...Usually it works ..cause for the surround with 3 outlets the central is on the same plug with the woofer ..so the signal is similar..

My Insignia 37" LCD TV only has four audio input jacks. How do I connect my surround sound to my TV

Depending on how you have it set up, and what inputs you have on your TV/surround sound system, you can connect your surround sound through HDMI or optical cables. Otherwise, you can use standard composite (red, white, yellow) or component (red, green, blue).

I just bought a Blue Ray player but my surround sound has a dvd player built in and only one input which I have my new Sharp TV plugged into. How can I hook up my Blue Ray . I have the HDMI cables

Depending on if your surround system has a hdmi input or not. if it does you can connect the blu-ray player to it. If it doesn't have an hdmi input you will have to run the hdmi cable from the blu-ray to the tv then run a set of rca cables (red and white plugs) from the tv audio out to the surround systems' audio input jacks to get sound through the surround system. Most surround systems don't have an auxiliary input for another video device.

Wharfedale s20030 speakers broken?

First, check input power (electricity) of your speaker. You can see lamp indicator on speaker (usually LED lamp, Light Emitting Diode, green light or else) must be light ON.
Two, jack line out (usually green) on the speaker, you must touch that jack. Don't worry, you can't heart attack cause of it (for touching that jack, DC-Direct Current supply). If you hear some noise, sound of droning, buzzing, that is indicate of sound will be come out from that speaker.
Three, you play WinAmp software (or Windows Media Player, from Microsoft) and get in one of mp3 file, and load it into WinAmp player. Make sure if your mp3 file is normally sound.
Four, plug in your green jack (of speaker) to the line in of your sound card (refer to mainboard PC, if your soundcard get in ONBOARD or plug in PCI slot). Green jack line of speaker to socket green of sound card.
Five, now you can hear sound of your song....

No sound from 5.1 surround system

If you're connecting a "5.1 surround system" to a single jack that you plug your headphones into, it's not going to work. Headphone jack is Stereo, 2 speakers. You need at least 3 input jacks for 5.1, plus one for the subwoofer. If you don't have these, you'll have to buy an add-on card.

How do i connect my x box with my phillips home theatre surround system that i have just bought?

You should have a cable assy with your x-box that gives you yellow, red and white cables. Take the red and white into an input on the surround system.  Video, Aux or CD inputs would work.

I want to setup my logitech x540 surround sound through my tv (which is LG 37LC2D the jacks at the back are Inputs: AV In 1 RF In Y AV In 1 S-Video In 1 Scart Jacks 3 Component in Audio 1 Digital Audio...

Hi,

Based on your query "...which jack...put the green cable ...", I would suggest that you replace that green cable with a 3.5mm Stereo Phone Male to Twin RCA Male as shown below.
19ba6b8.jpg. The stereo phone would match the green INput ((Front) of the Logitech X-540 while the twin RCA (white & red) would match the RCA AUDIO OUTput of the LG 37LC2D.
f133914.jpg
Of course hooking it up this way would not fully utilize the 5.1 features of the X-540 (Rear and Sub/Center) but the TV sound will come out of the front speakers.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Help! Surround Sound problems!

Since you have a surround sound system, you probably should just bypass the TV's audio.

Connect the red/white plugs from your digital cable box to one of the inputs on your surround sound system but not the Phono input unless the Phono input lists something aside from Phono, like Aux/Phono or CD/Phono.

Connect the S-Video or composite (yellow) video plug from your digital cable box directly to the S-Video or composite (yellow) video jack on your TV.

If your digital cable box does not have a S-Video (4 pins and flat rectangular hole) or Composite (yellow RCA jack) jack and only has the screw/push-on type cable with the pin in it, then leave the remaining connections as-is.

Now switch your surround sound system to the input you connected the red and white plugs to and turn on your TV. You should see picture from the TV, but hear audio from the surround sound system.

Surround Sound using the video feature

You will not get 'surround sound' from this set only stereo sound. The Video/Aux jack at the back of the unit is an input terminal. You can connect the audio part of your TV(if it has a Line Out jack), dvd player or video game console to this input to get the sound through the stereo system. Use a male-to-male RCA cable to make the connection, they are color coded (Red and White). Press the "Video/Aux"  button to select the input terminal.
