Question about Canon Office Equipment & Supplies

Open Question

Canon Pixma MP 780 - Ink cartridge carrier never used to 'move' by hand - it always only moved into position when the top and front doors were opened. Bought a new printer head - turned the machine on to install printer head but the machine cartridge carrier didn't 'move' when the door and top were opened the machine made a banging noise. Message for the problem is "check printer press ok" upon checking the machine I don't see anything wrong except the free moving cartridge carrier - I press ok but the problem doesn't go away. Looked at the back of the machine, but I don't know what to do or how to fix it.

SOURCE: replacing NON Manufactored ink cartridges in EPSON PHOTOS STYLUS R380

hi im jules_09,apparently it will not work because every copier orprinter has its own designated ink cartridges.or even the ink will not work on it too.it goes to all copiers and printers that do not use a imitation of toner or ink or youll have problem with the machine if you want it to work just transfer the new ink into the old cartridge,re use only the cartridge but remember that compatile ink and toner can ruin the operation or even cause big problem to the machine

How do i change the ink

First make sure that the printer is on and the document cover of the scanner is closed. Then lift up the entire scanner unit and secure the support (on the right side of the unit). The cartridge carrier should move to where you can reach the cartridges. Wait until this comes to a stop.

Pinch the tabs on the cartridge cover for the cartridge that you want to replace together. (One is at the front of the cover (near you); the other is on the top of the cover part way into the printer.) Then lift up the cover. Pull the old cartridge out. Open your new cartridge and remove the protective tape. (Do not touch the electrical contacts or the print nozzles.)

Push the new cartridge into its slot (just push forward and slightly down. Make sure that the black cartridge is in the right hand slot. Then close the ink cartridge cover and make sure that it clicks into place. The front edge of the cover should end up parallel to the front of the printer.

Repeat this for the other cartridge if needed. Then lift up the scanner unit slightly to release the support and then lower the scanner unit to close the printer. Wait until the printer stops the self-cleaning to recharge the ink system before doing anything else with the printer.

Note: if the scanner unit is open for more than 10 minutes, the cartridge carrier will move to the home position. If this happens, close the printer and then lift up the scanner unit again.

My canon Pixma MP 780 says "ink wate near full". What can I do?

There is ink absorbers located at both ends of the printerwhere the ink head move.
To dry the ink absorber, power up the printer and open the cover so the inkcartridges and print head will move to the middle of the printer.
Then take several sheets of absorbent tissue, fold it into a pad and place itinside the printer over the ink absorber on the far left hand side of theprinter to soak up the excess ink. You may need to change the absorbent tissuea few times. Then repeat the same procedure on the right hand ink absorber.
Closethe lid and the printer should now function normally.

How do I change the ink on my Canon MX320

Just open the top cover together with the scanner bed.
When the cartridge carrier move in the middle of the printer, that is the time you can replace the catridge. Lift up the top cover for the cartridge carrier and then the cartridges.

When replacing the cartridge. Push the cartridge down the carrier, you will hear a snapping sound. Return the top cover for the carrier and the scanner bed.

Carrier stall.

There could be 4 possibilities.

1. Ink cartridges lids are open which is not allowing cartridges to move freely.
2. Ink cartridges carriage will not move from its original position(left) when front cover is opened
3. Encoder strip is Dirty.
4. Encoder strip is Out of position.

Solution:
1. Open the front cover and check if ink cartridges lids are properly snapped in.

2. Turn the printer off and pull out the power cable from power socket, open the front cover and manually center the ink cartridges carriage.
Clean the metallic rod inside the printer using WD40 or Kleenex from Left corner to right corner properly.

3. Cleaning the encoder strip:
a. printer should be off and disconnected from power.
b. open the front cover.
c. Using a dry, lint free cloth, pinch the encoder strip on the right-hand side of the cartridge carriage and pull your fingers across it toward the right-hand side of the printer and you can move the cartridges carriage to clean the strip completely.
d. Note: The encoder strip is a narrow band of clear plastic and can be difficult to see without direct lighting running parallel to metallic rod.
e. Close the printer and try again to print.

4. Repositioning the Encoder strip.
a. Remove the power cord from the printer.
b. Open the front cover.
c. Gently slide the ink cartridge carrier to the middle of the printer.
d. Gently move the top part of the printer belt to the right.
e. Using an index finger, gently push encoder strip down and then back up, to get it back into the slot located on the back of the ink cartridge carrier.
f. Gently press the strip first to the rear, and then forward, to ensure that it is seated correctly.
g. Manually move the ink cartridge carrier to the left, then to the right, to check the positioning of the encoder strip.
h. Once the encoder strip has been re-seated, close the scanner lid.
i. Re-connect the power cord to the printer and try again to print.
