Sounds reasonable. Since I am not real handy, can you advise me the part name and number, and where I might find this faulty part on the Refrigerator, and also a replacement new part?

    Just need some specific guidance.

Also, I am having trouble getting the twist off cap off of of the Water Filter tube to replace the water filter. Any issue with getting a wrench to lossen the cap?

Hi, normally you have what is called a dual solenoid water valve. This is the part that your house water supply line is connected to on the back of the fridge. One line goes to the ice maker and the other to the water dispenser. This is a common fault part we replace almost daily. You can also have an issue with the dispenser itself. Some dispensers have electrical control boards that fail or micro switches depending on the model number that will make either the ice or water not work. There is a lot to check on a case like this and it can get labor intensive.

But since your refrigerator is not dispensing water and also no making ice, it means the dual solenoid water valve that supplies water to the ice maker and water dispenser is faulty. All you need do is to replace it.

Hi, this valve is often replaced and so is available in many places on the internet and can be gotten locally if you have an appliance parts store or can get Kenmore sales to order you one. Should only cost $30 or so.

To replace, turn off the water supply valve at the wall. And unplug the power cord from the wall socket.

The two lines going into the top of the unit are pressed in and probably can be pulled out. You need to mark them so you can get them back in the right outlet. It they are locked in too tight carefully cut them off close to the top of the unit. The other line should be a compession nut. Just unscrew it.

Have some towels handy since some small amount of water may leak out.

Remove the mounting screws and pull the slip on power connectors off. Notice which color wire is on which terminal. I doubt that it makes any difference but it won't hurt to be that careful.

Set the leaker aside and put the slip on power terminals on the new unit. connect the supply line and tighten the compression fitting per the instructions in the box.

Clean up the ends of the cut lines so that the edges are smooth and don't have burrs. Push them into the correct fitting and pull back on them just enough to lock in place.

Turn on the water valve at the wall and check for leaks. If there are none then reinstall the mounting screws and it's done. You might as well plug in the ref. and try out the water dispenser just to make sure you did get the diverter lines back on right. Otherwise when the ice maker fills up you'll get water out the dispenser and Ice tray water when you want a drink.

If everything works close up the back of the ref. and have youself a beer. Or soda pop.

SOURCE: Ice Maker not working at all

Just like everyone here, our ice maker just stopped making ice. We solved the problem by unplugging the refrigerator for about 2 hours leaving the freezer door open.

It started making ice a few minutes after plugging it back in. Obviously the line that supplies the water had frozen and this allowed it to un-freeze.

We didn't remove any of the frozen items in the freezer, at the two hour mark, everything in the freezer was still mostly frozen.

SOURCE: water dispenser on front of refrigerator door does not dispense water. Ice Cube maker continues to make ice cubes. Defrosting doesn't fix problem.

Water dispensing solenoid is bad. You need to replace the solenoid valve. This typically is independent of the ice maker.

Ice maker wont work

The ice maker gets its water from the filter too. If there is NO water getting to the ice maker then look at the solenoid that lets the water into the ice maker. If water seems to be frozen to the underside of the Ice maker, take the unit out and allow it to dry before putting it back in.

Ice maker in Kitchenaid KSCS25FT does not refill. Makes ice cubes when filled manually. How to fix?

When an ice maker produces ice after filling with tap water and then cycles and does not refill with water that is an indication that the=> 2319734 Dual Water Inlet Valve
is defective. Replacing the water valve should get you back into the ice making business. The 2319734 Dual Water Inlet Valve has two sides. One side is for the dispenser and the other side is for the ice maker. When one side goes bad you end up having to change the complete dual valve set. Jennair jcd2289 side-by-side does not make ice

If you are getting water from the dispenser, then the water valve is good. The icemaker will need to be replaced since when the icemaker cycles and empties the ice tray, it should call for the water to refill and it is not doing so. Here is a link to the replacement icemaker.

Ice will not dispense GE model GSL25IFRF BS

well if you trouble shoot the board at the back to see if you are getting voltage if you are then use a jumper on that conenctor and see if the auger motor runs or remove auger motor and check voltage there while pressing the lever for ice usually 100% of the time that board controls everyhting water and ice
