Canon has finally admitted that there is a design flaw causing the memory error failures. There is a service memo out that is posted on their website

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/co...3&modelid=8777

that offers to make repairs free of charge. I sent my SD400 camera in and have just received a refurbished one in return.

Did Canon fix your camera free of charge and is it still working?

Yes and yes. Took about two weeks to get back. They paid for shipping both ways.

I own the Canon Power Shot S3IS. What is the largest SD card I can use in the camera;32GB? Thanks.

The largest SD card you can use is 2GB, but that's only because SD cards only go up to 2GB. You can also use SDHC cards from 4GB to 32GB. You cannot use larger SDXC cards.

Why are the photos on my Canon Power Shot S3IS not

When my cameras start having a mind of their own there are three basic things I check:
1. How old is the battery? Or has the camera been sitting around for a while? Chances are your battery doesn't have the gusto in it anymore if you answered yes or maybe to one of these. And then the camera stars acting up.
2. Once you've started "researching and resetting" all the possible settings it is good to reset all settings to default settings. Your manual will guide you for this.
3. Last but not least, where you out in humid weather? lake? sea? ocean? boat? handled the camera after coming out of the pool with wet hands?
anything that would have allowed all that to seep into your camera?

I have a canon power shot s3is and when i put a sd card into it it says memory card error. i've tried a number of other sd cards it seems not to read any card. just randomly started.

It is likely that an internal metal contact (one or several ones) inside the sdcard reader are bent, or damaged.

You will need to have your camera reviewed by a qualified technician to have it repaired, since it requires open the camera and evaluate the sd card reader mechanism.

Best regards,

Menory card error

The problem is that you've probably got a SDHC (High Capacity) card which is not supported with the S2; it only supports SD cards (up tp 2G)
