Lumix DMC-LZ7 turns off

Everytime I turn the camera on it tells me low batteries and then shuts off. I bought new batteries, same error. I tried the rechargable batteries and just regular ones don't know if that matters but I still had the same message. It didn't come with a power cord so I can't try that. Anyone have any ideas? The camera is less than a year old and I used it maybe a total of 10 times.. Thanks
