The Hum most commonly means that the drum belt on your dryer is probably broken
There is a simple way to test for this.
1 remove the clothes from the dryer.
2 put your hand inside the drum and turn it. If it is easy to turn, the belt is broken. If it is difficult to turn, the belt is good. You may be looking at motor problems.

Almost all of the time, it is a broken belt.
The link below has the full procedure for changing the belt.
Hope this helps,
Best Regards,
Mark

Found a used Home Master KFF6 Drill Press; thought I scored big when I got it for $50. Motor hums, spindle and chuck don't turn. Can I troubleshoot and fix myself, or can I get it repaired in CT?

The humming motor is that it could not get a turn direction because of only ac and a bad centrifugal or start capacitor if it hums try to turn it clockwise on the chuck to see if it will run .

Press the start button on dryer, it hums but wont turn. With 2 people pressed the start button again, held the door switch, reached in turned the drum, it hummed stopped humming then no more nothing....

Sounds like a weak motor. You'll have to get a new motor installed. They are fairly inexpensive and easy to install yourself on that type of machine if you are handy. Motor is located in the bottom right of the machine, attached to the drum belt through a small pulley underneath the drum next to the motor.

When statrting the dryer it doesn't start but hums

Sounds like a bad motor to me. If you hold down the start button and hums while its pressed its the motor. Depending on how old it is should determine your decision of whether or not to have it fixed. Hope this helps...

Kenmore dryer model # 110. 79902890 press the

you have a problem with a component called a capacitor.the capacitor stores an electric charge.this charge gives the motor the "kick" needs to start.if you have a faulty one the motor will hum because it cant turn.it should only be replaced by a competent appliance technician.

Start Button Hums when Pushed

Your contactor is getting weak. Try bouncing the front of the machine once or twice while it hums. If that works you'll need a new contactor. Do not let the humming go on for to long it could becme a fire hazard.Shut the machine off right away if you hear it.

Not enough water to do a wash!!!!!

Have you checked for a blockage in the pipe leading to the pressure switch? Normally a clear plastic pipe leading from the bottom of the drum up to a saucer shsped diaphram switch, also check the swithh by blowing gently into the input, does it click? Check with a multimeter.
