Mantis electric tiller runs for about 20 seconds then cuts out. Hit circuit breaker, runs then cuts out again and smells like it's burning. Went through all the troubleshooting and no warranty. Help!

It probably smells like it is burning because that is exactly what is happening. Persisting is likely to make things worse, if it is possible for things to be worse.

As the circuit breaker is tripping it is likely the fault is electrical. There probably isn't much electrical to go wrong apart from the motor, a switch and some wiring. A motor fault would seem likely unless the mechanical drive is so very tight it is overloading the motor.

Clearly the machine must be dismantled and checked through by someone competent to do so. The supplied troubleshooting guide is not likely to be much help as they have to be safety-conscious, they tend only to deal with external issues.

When you said turn off circuit breaker did you mean from electrical panel or is there something on dishwasher

The breaker this should be referring to is inside your home's panel box. Sometimes electronic devices will have an inline fuse to stop power surges from damaging expensive delicate boards with hard to find ICs, but this is a fuse that burns an electrical element and has to be replaced after it's been used, or in other words it's a one shot thing, versus a breaker which is a mechanical device that moves a set of contactors when it senses an over current situation and can be used repeatedly. Unfortunately you didn't ask this question with the string that your first question was linked with so I don't know the original problem, but I have never known of a washing machine that had an on board circuit breaker, and know that many do not include inline fuses either.

If you have additional questions please post (to this string so the can be easily found) and if you found my answer helpful please up vote it, and let us know your results.

Good luck!

Dead short

A electrical dead shot is when an electrical circuit has zero resistance; this happens when an electrical feed comes into contact with metal objects such as a metal outbox, the ground, or a neutral wire. A common sign of a dead shot is a tripped breaker.

Hot water heater

1) Check across top two screws on upper element for 240volts.
Circuit breaker can be tripped on one leg so water heater appears to have power, but only has 120Volts to ground, and not full 240Volt potential across both wires.

2) Move wires to another same-size circuit breaker

Major cirsuit breaker blew and partial loss of power in residential home ...is bus port still good? Looks good. replaced breaker and working again..will this last?

1) If busbar looks good it probably is good.
Usually when bus is bad, it has burned appearance, and looks like it is ready to crumble or is crumbling.

2) Problem with bad busbar, we sometimes add subpanel next to main box.
Buy subpanel box Home center or electric supply.
Square-D subpanel shown on following page came from electric supply.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-install-a-subpanel.html

3) You can also add tandem breaker to main box.
Tandem breaker fits over one bus finger, but is actually two separate breakers.
Then double-up two lightly used circuits so you have room to move breakers around.
See image showing tandem.

Bathtub pump totally dead, pump ran dry for 10 sec, is there circuit breakers on pump motors, switch or is it the motor shot. any way to test motor with removing it?

Normally pump motors are connected on a separate
circuit with its own circuit breaker. At your house there is always a electrical control panel housing several circuit breakers for lights, power outlets, range, aircon, motors, etc...Find a tripped off breaker and reset it. To reset the circuit breaker is to switch it to off position and back to on position. Better still you may reset all the circuit breakers except the main
circuit breaker (biggest amp rating).
After resetting the circuit breakers, try to switch your
bathtub pump on, (to test it, if it is still okey). Other-
wise, your motor is damaged and you got to have the
motor rewinded, to be operational.
