ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT.
Check to make sure you are getting full 220 Volt power to the dryer, if you are then:
Check your Wiring
Often the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, burns and the connection breaks. If this has happened to your dryer, you need to replace the power cord and the terminal block inside the dryer to which the wire is attached.
Check the Door Switch
If the door switch or the door-switch actuator is defective, the dryer won't work and you need to replace the failed component. The switch is inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch. Check for continuity you should have none with door open, and should have a reading when closed. If not replace the door switch.
Check to make sure you heating problem is not a lint build up in the discharge hose or the dryer,as this condition can cause heater/thermistor problems such as overheating of the heating coil leading to failure of the coil and burnout of the thermostat/thermistor due to overheat.
Remove the back/or front just under the door of the machine and try to locate the air duct going from the blower to the drum. Normally inside/outside the air duct you will find the heating coil and the thermostats/thermistors. Once you have located the heating coil, remove the two wires from it and check the coil with an ohm meter across the two terminals of the coil.
You should read continuity across the terminals, if not you will need to replace the coil as it is faulty.
If the heating coil is ok, then:
You can check the thermostat/thermistor one at a time by removing the two wires and taping them together with electrical tape or with an ohm meter to test the thermostat/thermistor. (Should have/show continuity)
If the coil heats up then replace the thermostat/thermistor.
(Thermal fuse.If it overheats the dryer will not operate. It's located on the blower housing. It cannot be reset. A vent clogged with lint can cause it to overheat. You can test it with an Ohm meter or continuity checker, if no continuity, replace it)
DO NOT LEAVE THE WIRES TAPED TOGETHER AFTER THE TEST.
This could cause a FIRE, as you have removed the safety of overheat from the machine.
Right after replacing a dryer element, always run the dryer on 'air fluff' / 'no heat', and go outside to verify there's plenty of air coming out your vent system.
If the vent's clogged, that new element can burn out very quickly.

Could you tell me someone that sells a replacement vent hose for the Newair AC10000E portable air conditioner? Mine cracked last year. If I need to buy a whole new vent kit that would be acceptable.

If you cab salvage a few parts, you won;t have to purchase an entire new vent kit. You can find similar vent hose at any home center in the heating and cooling dept. Just take a piece of your old vent hose with you and match it up to one that same diameter. You can use your old termination and connect it to the new hose. You can do all of this fairly inexpensively.

Hope this helps and saves you a few $$ at the same time.

Dryer is only 3 months old and is not drying clothes... why? technician came out twice and said dryer is up to 130 degrees but clothes are still not drying.

first make sure your vents are not clogged, inside and outside your home,, if they are free make sure the vent hose is not kinked when the unit is pushed back,, if all is good take the vent off the back and turn it on and make sure it is blowing air out while it is running

The heat is not hot enough to dry clothes half load

A dryer either heats or not heat . You have a vent blockage or vent hose kink . Pull the dryer out and remove the vent hose . Dry a load and see if it drys ok . If so , check the vent if it goes thru the wall to outside , or if goes up thru the ceiling , may have to get a cleaner ( line and brush ) at Home Depot .

Dryer does heat but takes 3 hours to dry a medium size load of clothes

Sounds like the moist air is not being properly vented. Your dryer has a fan that pulls in dry air and expells the moist air. This is vented thru your dryer hose and should be vented to the outside of your home. Sometimes the hose will get either a blockage or a partial blockage that will make it either not dry your clothes or take longer than it should. I have seen hoses that have a sag collect water much the way your trap will under a sink. You can either throughly clean the hose, and check for a blockage in the hose or the dryer itself, or you may, as a test, disconnect the hose temporarily and vent your dryer into an old pair of panty hose. When you turn the dryer on, the panty hose should inflate. Also make sure you keep your lint trap clean...EVERY LOAD.

Low heat output

A clogged or partially clogged vent . Especially if vents up thru the wall . If it vents straight out , make sure you have good air flow to the outside . Make sure the vent hose has no sharp kinks also . Try drying a load with the vent hose disconnected from the dryer . If clothes dry fine , that tells you the problem is elsewhere . Normally , a dryer either heats or doesn't heat . A heat for a few minutes then stops heating but continues to run complaint ,would be bad coils on the gas valve .

Items in dryer are not quite dry, cool down cycle is real short, heat is maintained in dryer when it stops and wrinkles clothes. Cool down cycle went from 4 minutes down to one, skipping 3 and 2. Same...

check and make sure it has a clear clean vent.no kinks in vent hose.if yours vents thru roof then you may want a chimney sweep to come and sweep your vent out.if it goes thru a wall check and make sure know blockage.
