Hi,

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

check out this electric no heat tip...

Hi, i have a whirlpool duet sport wfw8400tw03. When i run to normal cycle, it stop no error code no light. The washing machine just shut down. I can run it on delicate or sanitary. Is a balance trouble

if u can run it on delicate or fluff cycle with cool air more than likely its ur cycling thermostat or the hi limit thermostat going defective test it with a meter for ohms..
1. On gas and electric dryers that have an "Auto Dry" cycle, the cycling thermostat is often used to advance the timer as well regulate the drum temperature. Essentially, thermostat will alternately turn on the heat source or the timer motor when the temperature has been satisfied. To check this thermostat, you will have to check for power to the timer motor with a multi-meter, during a cycle. This is a live voltage test and caution should be used.

2. Some dryers will use a cool down thermostat to tumble the clothes without heat, at the end of the dry cycle. Power is routed through this thermostat to the drive motor to keep it running until the drum temperature has dropped to a specific temperature. If this thermostat fails it can cause the drum to turn indefinitely or until the door is opened. You can check the thermostat for continuity with a multi-meter. This test should only be made with the power removed from the dryer.

Lastly check the moister sensor for OHMS according to ur schematic as it must show a certain amount of ohms as per ur unit. When unit has been on short while

DRYER OVERHEATING:

Heating Element
A defective heating element can make a dryer too hot or not heat at all. . If the element partially shorts out, it can produce heat all the time, regardless of whether the dryer is calling for heat. Remove the heating element to inspect it. The coils should not be touching each other or anything else.

Other Causes and Conditions
Air Flow Problem
Dryers need good ventilation to work properly. If the vent is clogged it can make the dryer too hot. Clean all of the vent tubing thoroughly.

Cycling Thermostat
Although not common, a defective cycling thermostat can make the dryer too hot. The cycling thermostat is supposed to turn on and off the heat to maintain the proper temperature. If the thermostat is defective it may keep the heat on too long. The thermostat is not adjustable or repairable, it must be replaced.

HI LIMIT THERMOSTAT DEFECTIVE? SHOULD SHOW OHMS AT ROOM TEMPERATURE

Felt Seal
Most dryers have a felt seal at the front and rear of the drum to keep the heat inside the drum. If the felt seal is worn away or missing, the dryer may keep heating and make the dryer too hot. This is not common.

Blower Wheel
A defective blower wheel will not spin properly and will not vent the hot air, making the dryer too hot. Check to see if there is adequate airflow out of the dryer.

Stops and all the lights come on

Instructions
    • 1 Make sure the home's gas supply valve is turned on. Check your Maytag owner's manual to find the location of the dryer's gas shut-off valve. This is usually behind the dryer's front panel or in the back of the unit. Open the valve to allow gas to flow into the dryer.
    • 2 Open the lower front panel of the dryer to access the pilot light assembly. Press and hold the starter button as you light the pilot with a handheld lighter. If you have trouble getting it to light, release the starter button and wait a few minutes before trying it again. Once the pilot is lit, hold the starter button down for another minute to make sure it will stay burning.

    • 3 Close the dryer's front panel and run a test cycle to see if it is producing heat. Call a repairman to evaluate the problem if lighting the pilot did not restore the heat.

Maytag DG410 gas dryer-no flame, no heat. I replaced the ignitor - that apparently isn't the problem. Other ideas?

Motor runs, but main burner will not ignite
1.heat switch set wrong---correct switch setting
2.defective timer or timer circuit---check timer wiring--replace timer motor or switch as needed
3.defective centrifugal switch in motor---clean switch or replace as needed
4.gas supply valve closed----open gas valve
5.inoperative solenoid coil---test coil for open circuit & the voltage to it
???
Pilot burner goes out
1.insufficient gas supply---- low gas pressure or clogged pilot filter or partially closed gas valve
2.carbon deposit on thermocouple tube---clean tube & check pilot burner for proper combustion
3.improperly adjusted pilot flame--adjust pilot flame until faint yellow tip begins to appear
4.faulty ignition or reset valve or thermocouple---replace

Clothes not drying, but dryer runs & heats
1.defective operating thermostat---test thermostat, replace if defective
2.fan or it's pulley loose on shaft---tighten set screw
3.incorrect heat or timer settings---reset timer
4.clothes to wet when placed in dryer----wring out or extract water from clothes before placing in dryer
5.clogged lint screen or duct (little air motion)---clean out lint screen & duct

I have an old Kenmore 70 Series dryer, just this weekend, the drum turns but no heat..... after a little search online, I suspect the pilot light went out. Where is the pilot light located? I lost the...

The burner is on the lower right side of the bottom under the drum. See this manual pdf page 23 for location and access. https://secured.whirlpool.com/Service/SrvTechAdm.nsf/2cd44500d572193285256a45004fd9d6/4829abde74a34d7f85256ab000620794/$FILE/4322260.pdf

The burner uses an ignitor and a flame sensor vs a pilot light. See this link pages 12 - 14
https://secured.whirlpool.com/Service/SrvTechAdm.nsf/2cd44500d572193285256a45004fd9d6/c5c81d2c8f26b1b5852574f20055c20c/$FILE/4314010.pdf Note the M series burner has been in use since 1984.

The dryer must have a complete termperature circuit and no "high temp limit" failures for the ignitor to light. That means the door is closed, motor is running, and the cycle thermostat is less than 135 deg F and the High limit thermostat is less than 180 deg F just to provide power to the gas valve solenoids, ignitor, and radiant / flame sensor.

Since you are already this far you have some knowledge of how you dryer works. What is wrong now is the heat sensor that picks up that the pilot is on. The pilot should burn at a steady flame when you turn the dryer on to heat this in turn heats a probe next to the piolit this is a type of heat sensor. When the probe or heat sensor senses heat it tells the gas valve that its okay to turn on. Have a great day and hope this helps.

My dryer spins on all cycles-------but no heat. Could it be pilot light?

Good day,
It has no pilot light. The first step is to remove the back cover and check the thermal fuses and limit thermostats. The most common item to fail is here.

73a3a07.jpg You will need an ohm meter to test it. It should read zero ohms.
There are many more, any of which could cause the problem. Look here.

3e706b5.jpg Ignore the ones going to the right canister. That is for electric dryers.

If all check O.K. then you will need to access the front of the dryer.
Usually either the igniter or the gas valve coils. The igniter should read under 35 ohms, the dual black coils on the gas valve cannot be tested.

Here is tutorial on accessing the front. Nothing to do with your issue, just allows you to see how to access these items on the bottom left.

Kitchenaid model kgys700gq1 pilot light lights but than burner goes out in 5 to 7 minutes

If the load is extremely large or heavy it may require more time. If you have an auto sensor cycle try that. If you are using the auto cycle and the clothes are not drying then the sensor may be not operating correctly. Make sure the lint filter is clean and that the exhaust vent duct is not clogged. Check all the way to the outlet. If all is clear then the thermostat2.gif may need to be replaced if it is not calling for heat as often as it should. Also check to make sure there is air flow from the vent. If not then the fan/blower may be broken or disconnected from the motor shaft.

The dryer was heating fine earlier, but now is not heating at all. Is there a pilot light on my dryer that may have been blown out?

Hi, With the dryer running, look into the small front panel and see if the ignitor is glowing at all. If the ignitor glows but there is no flame, the coils on the gas valve are bad. If the ignitor does not glow, you will need to (with the dryer unplugged) check continuity on the thermostats and the flame sensor on the side of the burner.
If any of these parts show no continuity, that part will need changed.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist you further.
