Hello,

Check the compression in both cylinders, if the one with the rich condition shows lower compression, by more than 40 lbs difference, then thats your cause.

Hope this gets you going in the right direction.

a 93 ram 150 318 engine bay search comes up with a carby set up

will reply to that set up

how many miles on the engine
any other issues other than fouling plugs ?

running rich ?
anti pollution or EGR valve not working properly
carboned up intake manifold
poor cylinder compression
if not
could have hardened oil stem seals and the oil is dribbling down the valves into the combustion chamber
you wont see smoke out the tail pipe

valve stem seals can be replaced with the heads on

you could go to iridium plugs

I have a 2009 motor on my yamaha 2003 R6 the gas is burning rich and popping it in exhaust to get to the shop said that it was running on 3 cylinder when it should be 4 what should you to fix it?

Determine which cylinder is not running by removing each plug wire one at a time and see which one does not affect engine running. Remove spark plug from the bad cylinder and check for oil, fuel or carbon fouling. If plug is wet with fuel, check carburetor. If carbon, clean and re install. If oil, Check compression for more serious problems..

Spark plugs foul immediately

Fouled plugs may be caused by oil leaking into the cylinder. Does it smoke when running (cold), are you using up the crank oil. Black smoke is excess gas comsumption, blue smoke is oil burning. If your plug is fouled with black carbon, you are most likely running to rich.

John deere 135s won't start briggs and stratton 22 hp engine it is getting spark and fuel and I just put new plugs in because the looked fouled.

Hello,

There are four reasons for fouled spark plugs, 1, You have a resticted air flow ( dirty air filter, or partially engaged choke), so the mixture is rich all the time fouling tghe plugs. 2, You have a poor quality fuel ( old, stale ), and it wont combust/burn hot enough, then fouling the plugs. 3, You might have a piston ring failure causing engine oil to be left on the cylinder wall instead of being wiped back down, and then burning as part of the combustion process. Thus burning and causingg a rich condition again, and fouling the plugs. Then finally number 4, low engine compression. This is again caused by worn cylinder walls and worn piston rings, causing compressed air/fuel mixture to leak past the rings into the crankcase, and when the fuel/air mixture is compressed then ignited, some of the air needed to ignite the fuel has escaped, and thus a rich condition again, fouling the plugs.

Determining which of the Four are causing you fouling is your next step.

Hope this helps

95 VT600 DLX spark plugs foul after about 200 - 300 miles in rear cylinder

If they are black when you pull them out with oil on you them probably need new rings or its possible that the engine is running rich and fouling the plugs and needs carbs adjusted.

My plugs are fouling out black soon as i put them in i think it isnt hitting

Two possible reasons for this. if your plugs are black from fuel. (smell them). then you have a very rich condition your getting to much fuel to that cylinder. or number two if they are black or dark with oil, you have bad piston rings in that cylinder. good luck!!!

Flooding and fouling plugs

Running too rich..Not sure exactly what the problem is. Might be best to buy a repair book and look it up on there..they have them at the library or you can get one online here.
