Question about Brother MFC 7420 All-In-One Laser Printer

Open Question

My wife has replaced the drum in an MFC 7420 and it keeps telling her to reset the drum. I told her that all of the things I find her say to hit the options key and then press 1 when prompted for reset. She tells me that there is no options key on the printer. She keeps going into the menu and can't find where the options key might be. I am wondering if she is just hitting the wrong key.

Why does the message "CHANGE DRUM SOON" continue to appear on the LCD display of my Brother machine, after I replaced the drum? Press the Options key on the control panel. The display will show "REPLACE DRUM - 1.YES 2.NO". Press 1 to reset the drum count. Close the front cover.

On the side of the cartridge (TN2000) there is a white reset flag, this need to set to twevle 'o' clock, thats towards the black roller. If that hasn't been reset the cartridge will register as low.

Keep getting Toner Life End Message even after replacing with brand new cartridge. I'm sure it is installed correctly. The Brother 7420 machine won't recognise the new cartridge(TN2025).

Open front cover and hit "Options" button, you should see a prompt to "Change Drum". Don't hit 1 for yes or 2 for no. hit the "Start" button and then put in the number 11. You should see the word "Accepted" in the window. Close front cover and you should be all set.

Check your owner's manual, and there's one in the install disk. It will show you where there are electric contacts inside where the drum is. You may have to take the drum out to see them. You're supposed to clean them with isopropyl alcohol on a q-tip. Don't get alcohol on anything else.
