Question about Maytag Washing Machines

1 Answer

I've tried everything to get a delicate wash and am not able to do that. Invariably, it is a regular wash. As a result, I'm using Casual, which is NOT for delicates. I've only had the washing machine for one month. Have used Maytag previously (my daughter has a Maytag about 4 yrs. old) and had no problems at all. Frustrated and VERY unhappy with this washing machine! FYI the model number is: MVWC300VW - Line 10. The washer and dryer was purchased at Home Depot, Bel Air, MD.

This is only the start im sorry to say this model is not very good and in the end is alot of headaches if it is not going into the delicate cycle then the problem would be in the timer where i would quickly call them because it is under warranty In recent years i find maytag has lost the quality that they used to put into makeing machines and unfortunatley the consumer pays the price this model top loader you should look on our site how many different problems customers have whereas a whirlpool would last you maybe 5-8 years in todays world a maytag will maybe last 3-4. The timer is what controls the washer to go into the delicate cycle also if you were to look up on google you will notice alot of peoples same unit just gets stuck in delicate and they cant do casuals if you have any further questions please message me back and please remember when our chat is concluded to rank how this opinion has helped in your appliance situation thanks again
Rick
p.s sorry to be so downgrading on your unit but Ive personally seen many people throw away hard earned money on this unit only to have to go out and get another. once again message me back if you have any further questions

I need to know what the buttons say on the dishwasher. Mine have no letters

Hi,

Some SHX46 washers have 4 wash cycle buttons and others have 5. The button on the left side on top of the door is the start/stop button regardless of how many wash cycle buttons you have.

If you have 5 cycle buttons, reading from left to right they will be as follows.

1. Top Rack Only / Sanitize
2. Power Scrub Plus - (Long wash for heavy soil)
3. Regular Wash - (Economy wash for light to medium soil)
4. Delicate Wash - (Shorter wash at a lower temperature for delicate items)
5. Rinse & Hold.

These buttons are also used for cancelling a wash cycle. Hold down buttons 2 and 4 (Power Scrub Plus and Delicate) at the same time to cancel a wash cycle and drain the water out.

If your washer does have 4 buttons, it means you don't have a Top Rack / Sanitize cycle, in which case the button configuration - from left to right - will be:

1. Power Scrub Plus - (Long wash for heavy soil)
2. Regular Wash - (Economy wash for light to medium soil)
3. Delicate Wash - (Shorter wash at a lower temperature for delicate items)
4. Rinse & Hold.

With this button configuration, the cancel cycle buttons are 1 and 3.

I hope this solves your problem. If you need any additional information, please post back.

Regards,
BElectric

Maytag PAV2300AWW, ONLY WORKS ON REGULAR CYCLE. ON DELICATE CYCLE CLICKING NOISE LIKE SWITCH OFF AND ON AND AGITATOR WILL MOVE SLIGHTLY WHEN CLICKS. MY SON HAD IT ON A WHILE BACK ON THE DELICATE CYCLE AND...

Your timer is bad on that cycle. It is okay to use on regular cycle, but I would not use it on the delicate cycle, or will you burn up your timer. You should be home when using this, so if it does act up you can catch it.

Amana washer only works on delicate cycle

Open the control panel. Unplug the timer and then plug it back in good and firm.
If it does not work correctly after that,
Replace your timer.

Only works in Casual / Perm Press mode

sounds like the timer is faulty you will have to have it replaced.
there is no easy way of emptying it, you will have to bucket the water out. you could try siphoning it out using the drain hose but i don't think you will have any luck.

Won't agitate in delicate or hand wash

Sounds like you may have a problem with the motor. These motors have two speeds, and the lower speed maybe going bad. If you are handy, the motor is really pretty easy to replace, but the motor itself is a touch costly (Maytag Number 21001950), usually around $150.00 (but you can sometimes find them on ebay for less). If you want to replace it yourself and need further help getting to it, let me know, really quite easy. Jim
