Question about Brother Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

Sadly my brother AX-100 is stck at the left hand side of the carriage. I cannot do anything. The machine tries to get itself warmed up but then a bell rings repeatedly. I canno move the daisywheel housing to the centre; nor can I insert the daisywheel or ribbon housing ( which were removed for transit ) as the carriage has moved to a fixed position the left.

With the machine turned OFF, you can move the carrier to the right by hand fairly easily - DO NOT TRY TO FORCE IT- if it doesn't move, look inside the machine to see if some forein object is stopping it.
If the printwheel is not in the machine, it would normally go to the left, stop and start beeping. Its not really necessary to remove the ribbon and printwheel for transport, but it is a good idea to put something inside the machine to stop the carrier from slamming back and forth as it's moved.

Carriage return stuck on left side when powering on

The first thing to try is to lubricate the silver rail that the carriage rides on. A few drops of a light oil ( sewing machine oil ) may take care of the problem. Turn machine off, apply oil and move carriage by hand back and forth. Turn back on and see if this took care of it.

Carriage will not go past right hand margin on Brother Ax 430 typewriter tried following user guide but still cant move carriage - it is halfway across paper

Have you tried to Unplug and again plug in after few minutes. If not, give it a shot right now.

Do you see any error message on that?

Is correction tape working properly? You could also try to pull up and again put it back to see if that would improve the situation. In order to do that it would involve taking the case off, removing the rails, the cable and the carriage drive and putting it in the other machine. Novel idea but not something easy.
Let me know the update, once done.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
