I have a window unit and I have water leaking in my house right under the air conditioner .What should I do ?

  • Anonymous Apr 15, 2009

When my A/C unit has been running for awhile, the condensation starts to run out of the unit in my basement all over the floor, I don't know if this should be running outside. I do have a pipe that is supposed to run the water into my floor drain.

The HPRO9XC5 unit leaks water from bottom of unit. Have had the unit for a couple of years and just noticed this today after using quite a bit during this summer.

Sounds like the drain line is blocked you would have to take this unit apart in order to check this. I would use a can of air to blow out the leakage. Also make sure the unit is level

First, make sure the unit is level. If so, you have a blockage or kink in the drain tube. Careful inspection should reveal any blockage, & you may be able to poke it thru with a piece of coathanger wire. Don't use excessive force, any block should be easily freed.

You mean it's leaking around the AC's unit base? If so, here's a handy diagnostic article that specifically addresses this problem of yours, explaining the probable causes and solutions, a solution that may very well have to do with the condensation pump's malfunction or just debris blockage, among other things: http://yourhandymanzone.com/Your_Handyman_Zone_How_To_Pages_Home_Improvement_Zone_Cooling_Ventilation_Systems_Central_Air_Conditioning_Creates_Water_Puddle.htm This article should set you on your way! Water is draining into the house?.where is the drain?

Hello, the unit must be tilted back in the window to prevent the condensate from leaking inside. Some units will have a drain plug on the bottum, while others use the condenser fan to scoop up the condensate and splash the condenser to keep it cooler and evaporate the condensate.

Our A/C unit when running, the drain water isn now backing up and leaking over the side in our basement. we've never had this problem before.

Hello, this usually indicates a clogged condensate line or cracked condensate pan. Try using a wet/dry by attaching one end of it to the otlet of the comdensate line, the suction pressure should dislodge the clog. If the line appears clean the the pan is cracked and will require a technician to come out and fix it.

There is water leaking out from the bottom of my furnace. It leaks whenever the ac is running.

Hello, sounds like a clogged condensate line or a faulty condensate pump if the unit has one. Cleaning the drain line should fix the problem.

Internal unit is leaking water

Check condensate tubes - they may be blocked and need cleaning. All manufactures recommend having your furnace and air conditioner checked and cleaned on an anual basis. You can clean your condensate tubes yourself - if it is severly blocked you may have to use compressed air to unblock, but first to a combination of bleach and water. Better yet a technician will clean the condensate tubes and well as the rest of the unit so that it's running at its top efficiency

Water is not draining forom my hampton bay air condiotioner. It is gurgling and you can see water inside the unit. I have tilted it more in the window there is some water dripping but there is still water...

Allot of Window units do not have a drain anymore. The condenser fan picks up the water that lays in the bottom of the unit and slings it against the condenser coil to help keep it cool. If it is not leaking water inside the house it is normal to have some water in the bottom of the unit. This is verified by not having a drain hole or hose. As an A/C service tech I didn't care for this design as allot of people thought that there was a problem when there was not. They also tend to be a little noisier as the water makes noise when it is being thrown around inside the unit. I hope this helps

Water leaking out of unit, not out of flow tube.

Some models have a hose, some don't , maybe the drain hole it's restricted, condensor normally it's in the back of the unit, you might have to remove one of the side panels.

Is the unit level? it's pulling moisture out of the air and not draining threw the drain hole normally it's cause by the unit not being leveled.

My Air conditioner leaks water

All A/C units drain water and need a clear path to drain water.
If window unit the unit MUST lean to the outside so the condensation water can drain that direction and insure the drain hole is clear of debree.
If an indoor central a/c unit the drain must be clogged the unit is leaning away from drain or the pipe going to the drain is clogged somewhere as it exits house. Cant drain if doesn't have a clear path to do it's job. Doubt it's a problem with the brand.

if it is the indoor unit leaking, make sure that all your drain lines are clear.... if you're talking about the outdoor unit leaking water in the heat cycle...that is normal.
