My Kenmore gas dryer runs but it does not dry.
Obviously make sure the gas supply valve is open and gas is going to the unit.
Then determine if the burner is lighting at all... there is a small plastic plug in the lower left of the front panel. If you remove this plug you can see the burner assembly.
When the drier powers up you should see a glow plug that gets red hot, then a click (the solenoid opening) then the burner should light and you should see a blue flame.
If this does not happen, the glow plug will go out and then in a minute or so, the process will start again with the glow plug and the click.
If this cycle repeats without ANY lighting of the burner, you need to replace the burner assembly and/or safety valve... send the model number and I'll show you the parts.
If the burner lights for a few seconds and then extinguishes, it is probably a faulty flame sensor, which is a probe extending into the path of the burner flame about in the middle of the burner assembly (It makes sure the flame is lit and if it doesn't get hot enough it closes the gas valve to avoid filling your laundry area with gas). You can try cleaning it, and then replacing it. Again if you give me the model # I can help you...
