The lens just cycles out and in a few times then turns off. No display. Tried recharging, pulling out memory card and battery, no change.

I have exactly the same problem. There is plenty of power in the battery, and the case seems tight and in good condition. Any other suggestions please?

I have the same problem. Usualy after power up in AUTO I do not get picture on the screen. After I change to other mode and back to AUTO I get A picture but not in focus. I am elctronics enfineer and expert in enbaded systems. Ibelieve thet is a software bug and Olimpus shuld take responsibility.

Same problem. Weird buzzing noise when turned on. Lens goes in and out a couple of times. No display on the lcd unless you flip from auto and the other modes. When it does work the camera does not focus. Seems the auto focus is messed up.

On the right side of the camera where the memory card goes in thats where it is usally loose it it does that. try not to touch the part that slides out when you take the pictures or turn it on and it will be back to normal.

The problem you are describing is a problem with a sensor in the lens assembly. It seems to have failed and needs to be replaced. Following are the instructions to send your camera to Olympus for service.

http://olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_servicerepair.asp

Olympus will charge a flat rate repair fee for this product if beyond the one year factory warranty or the warranty is voided. The cost is $80.85 plus your local sales tax. This covers parts and labor, factory cleaning and diagnostic check, 6 month warranty and the cost of shipping the product back to you is all included in that price.

Olympus FE-190 lense

If the internal lens barrel gets knocked out of alignment it will cause that condition. If the camera senses that the lens is not in the proper position or not moving, it will turn back off rather than cause more damage. Pushing on the lens barrel to try to fix it will usually cause more problems than it already has. It has to be disassembled to be repaired.

at this point you may also want to check on your warranty status.

My camera isnt working

if the picture turns all white, then you might have a problem with the screen.
-or your're just aiming it at a bright object. (try covering the lens with your hand- dont actually touch it, just block out the light and if the screen goes dark then its still working)

if some sand or grit got inside your camera, then you have a serious problem, as sand is very abrasive, and could damage the internal mechnisims.

you should seek professional help on getting the inside cleaned out.
