Question about Universal Kreepy Krauly In-Ground Pool Cleaner

1 Answer

My Kreepy Krauly won't move. I've checked the hose for holes and also replaced the vinyl suction cup on the bottom but it won't budge. Doesn't appear that there is much suction. Could it be something clogging up the line in the pool equipment?

Yes, it could. Check the filter and pump for debris. This could severely restrict movement in these pool cleaners. Also, check the flaps of the Kreepy Krauly for debris. Also, check to make sure that the main drain and ALL suction lines, except the one the cleaner is attached to, are closed. This might also be why you have a lack of suction. My final suggestions would be to check the return line water flow and make sure that it is strong enough.

Kreepy Krauly has very little suction thru head but plenty thru hose

most all pool cleaners generate there motion with a thing called a venturi ! thats inside it usually moves a small propeller from the action of water being sucked hard thru the hose , on most the path to this "propeller" is different than that of pool debris , i suspect this alt path is part ways blocked , a simple way to clear is to connect garden hose to suction port of cleaner and force water Back in other direction other than that sometimes dissasembly is need to lube and clean hidden ports inside

Hi, I also bought my Bull Shark Kreepy Krauly recently - 3 months ago. Since day 1 it liftes up at the end and does not move flat on the surface of the swimming pool. Please assist.

First, check for debris in the pool cleaners flapper. This can cause a lack of suction the floor. Also, check for proper hose balance. If the hose rests at a greater than 45 degree angle, the hose is too light and you need to move the hose weights closer to the cleaner. If the hose rests at a less than 45 degree angle, you need to move the weights away from the cleaner.

Is not moving and I have cleaned and check the hoses for blockages and cleaned the filter.

You need to check the flapper to see if it is stuck. Then if you still have your suction guage. Check to be sure you have enough suction at the end of the hose. Check the hoses for leaks, make sure you don't have a clog in your impeller and your plumbing is tight and the lid "O" ring on your pump is good and seated well. Also if you have a skimmer plate be sure your front hole in the bottom of it is plugged off solid. Good luck.

My kreepy krauly seems to have good suction, but moves very slow. I usually hear a tic, tic, tic, tic, But, lately it has been tic....tic......tic Very Slow

Try these suggestions to get your automatic pool cleaner working properly:
• Check to ensure that the main drain and all suction lines are closed, except for the suction line to which Kreepy Krauly is attached.
• Check for debris in the filter or pump basket.
• Check for debris in Kreepy Krauly’s flapper. Debris may prevent flapper movement or restrict flow.
• Check the hose to ensure there are no leaks.
• Check the vacuum connection. It should be submerged so no air enters the system.
• Check the pump basket lid for looseness, cracks, and worn or missing O-rings.

It moves too slowly

If these automatic pool cleaners are moving slowly or sluggishly, first check to make sure that filter and strainer baskets are clean and not clogged. Make sure that the main drain and all suction lines are closed, except for the suction line to which your Kreepy Krauly is attached. Make sure there is not debris in the flapper than might be restricting movement. Also, and especially if you are noticing bubbles during slow movements, check for leaks. Make sure there are not leaks in the hose, vacuum connections, pump basket lids, etc.

Krauly gets tangled in the hose constantly and will not untangle

With these pool cleaners, that is almost always going to be a problem with your hose balance. To determine if your balance is correct, turn off the pump and observe the cleaner. Hose balance is correct if the cleaner's seal rests flat on the pool floor and drive tubes make a 45 degree angle with the floor. If the hose rises toward the surface at an angle greater than 45 degrees, move the weights closer to the cleaner or move the first two weights closer to each other. If the hose sags at less than a 45 degree angle, move the weights away from the Kreepy Krauly or separate the first two weights away from each other.

My Kreepy Krauly works for 10-15 minutes and then stops hammering and sits on the pool floor. I have replaced and checked parts and the pump runs well.

you may have a hose that allows air to get sucked in at times when the unit moves and the hose with crack is able to float to the surface and make contact with outside air. move hoses around and see if that helps you can also start from the closest connection at the suction port and lift the hose out of the water one section at a time hold it out of water for a moment and see if you notice any weird feeling or hear a slurping do this section by section until you get to the last hose section at kreepy head

Our kreepy krauly will not stay suctioned to the bottom of the pool. What can we do?

Check for air leaks in your hoses, your pump or in the plumbing system. Also check for clogs in your pump impeller if you have any problems with your basket. Good luck.

My kreepy krauly is moving at half speed and sometimes stops moving all together. All tubing is good, filter has just been cleaned, any ideas?

Check your pump pressure on the suction side. If there is any air gap in your pump strainer pot (if you have a see thru see thru strainer cover) then you have a leak on the suction side. Auto matic cleaners need ample pressure for them to move. or you might need to backwask the filter check your pressure gauge. If none of these help its more then likely the gears in the cleaner. also check your cleaners hoses
