Hi, when You open the front door, try manually pull down the toner "drum" in the lock position. Also if you can navigate trough the user menu go to the toner change mode and select the appropriate color mode and reinstall the toner.
Hey, make sure the front door is shut, if it is, you most likely need to replace the High Voltage Power Supply (Part# WH773). Iteminc.com has this part and can ship same day. The sensor which reads if the door is open can go bad and it is part of the HVPS.
plz check the printer carefully, there may be some dislocation of some parts which is preventing the front door from completely closing. post back if more assistance is req.
The reg door is on the back of the printer. It is pulled towards you and down. Check it to see if there is anything keeping it open. If there is, clear the obstuction. Power it off and back on to see if that cleared the message. If that did not work, check for any damage to the door. If the door looks fine, and there is nothing blocking it from closing correctly you are looking at the vertical transport assembly and possibly the Machine control unit having some problems. The Machine Control unit is the "brains" of the printer. The vertical transport assembly moves the paper.

There is a switch inside the front door that is not making contact when the door closes, making the printer think that the front door is open. The switch is recessed in the housing. Look for a plastic knob that protrudes from the front door that will mate with a hole in the frame. Inside this hole is the switch. Try activating the switch manually with a screwdriver to make sure the switch is functioning. If it is, you will need to take off the cover and reposition the switch forward. If it does not activate manually, the switch must be replaced.
I had same problem. If you go to rear of printer and open the back door you'll see it is attached to a blue connector. Unattached it so that the door opens fully and then unflap the inside roller assembly. Next open the fuser door and you'll notice a little spring loaded assembly on the inside of the opened fuser door. This is where my problem was. Make sure that the assembly springs back when pushed because part communicates with a sensor on the motherboard. If it doesn't spring back then the printer thinks there is a jam. Mine was stuck but after pushing it a few times it started to work freely again. This was a frustrating problem but that fixed my issue and hopefully it will fix yours.

Need to do a hard reset. Contact Dell for instructions, but it will involve turning printer off, opening front cover, pushing buttons on front panel in certain sequence, etc. Each model differs, which is why you should call Dell.
